Data Tracking at "myair.resmed.com"

Post by EmilySleeps » Sat Dec 06, 2014 2:48 am

I'm a new CPAP user, and stumbled upon ResMed's wireless data tracking when I noticed the wireless signal - the technology company that provided my machine wasn't even aware of it! At first I was a bit leery given I wasn't told about it and the "Big Brother" aura, but now I like it and find it very motivational - akin to the online FitBit tracking. I'd like to hear others' reactions to this!

Thanks, Emily

it's largely useless as far as data goes.

What you are describing is what some people dislike about the new machine. They don't want "Big Brother" watching.

I wish people would quit saying this.

It shows nightly average AHI and a few other things that are actually useful.

ResScan or SleepyHead do give a lot better information, but myAir does give some useful information. Not everyone is going to figure out how to install SleepyHead, or take the trouble to read their SD card that often.

It's a lot more useful than no data, which is what most patients use. A lot of doctors only check compliance, if they even check that. It's also useful as a very easy way to discover that there are problems and you may need to investigate further.

Even though I do have SleepyHead and am a technogeek, I don't check my data that often. myAir would be useful to me as a quick check to see if anything is going on. If my numbers change, I'd know I need to go and check my data more thoroughly by reading the SD card. Heck, maybe some of the idiot, assembly line medicine doctors will learn to pay a little more attention to their patent's therapy data if they use the site.

You can turn it off by pushing the right buttons on the machine and setting "airplane mode."

I do wish they had set it up to give you (and your doctor) access to the full data the machine records, but the limited amount of data it does show is a lot better than nothing.

The sad thing is that most doctors and DME's probably won't make use of the data it does provide.

The feedback, though relatively minimal to the nerd crew, is better than the nothing previously offered.
As positive reinforcement, it may prove to be useful in encouraging continuing therapy.
My hope is that patients and the medical community will see the benefits and want MORE.
I especially hope the industry will comply.

Isn't this already available on the machine display? If so, I would like to know what is valuable about myair.

Just asking, as I haven't looked at it myself and don't see the need while using SleepyHead.

While it doesn't provide extensive data, I've found the myair tracking to provide a jolt of positive motivation for a new user. Until I found this forum, it was the only type of motivational/reminder information I received. I'm not familiar with SleepyHead but would love to find out about it - I really enjoy technology so it sounds like it would be great for me. I'm going to search for it right now!

it's not hard to find... and if you poke around the forum, and read the first stickied announcement, you'll get an idea what it can do for you

I tried out myair and I found it to be completely useless. It provides a lot less data than what is available on the machine itself, and much less than Sleepyhead. The other issue is that I signed up after I had used my machine for a month, but it didn't figure that out. So all the info I was getting from them was referring to my first week, etc. I cancelled my account. Just my 2 cents.

How are guys ok with being tracked? I just pulled my sd card, I have had a sleep endoscopy so I know what I have. If I pull SD and clear data, am I still tracked? Why do they hide what they do from us? We have a right to know how we are tracked via CPAP data

If you don't want to be "tracked" then just turn Airplane Mode on. But then you'll have to go into see your doctor to be checked for compliance if your insurance is covering your machine.

I dont care who knows the data. I find res med Air good, other wise i would be lost. Sleepy head is a good follow up to res med air. It pinpoints the data exactly

What else do you want?.

The only data they may get is how I'm sleeping. How can that possibly be used against me? You sound like my ex, he-of-the-tinfoil-hat...

You haven't said what machine you are using. You machine may not have transmitting capability. Pulling the SD card does nothing in regard to transmitting data. It just records the data from the machine so you can download it to your computer if you have the software.
