So Glad I took your advice!

Post by Duffy08 » Thu Nov 20, 2014 7:43 am

Hi all,

I am about 3 months into my CPAP journey, and really, it couldn't be going better. I've had little to no trouble getting used to the machine, and my AHI has consistently been under 0.8.

Toward the beginning, I had posted asking opinions about trying a different mask even though my first mask was working well. I don't remember who, but someone suggested trying other masks, particularly a full face mask which could be used if I got sick and couldn't breathe through my nose. I took this advice, and at my followup with the DME, requested and was given a full face mask. To whoever suggested this--THANK YOU! I came down with a nasty sinus infection on Tuesday, and the FFM has been a life saver! It's not the most comfortable thing ever (I woke up several times with dry mouth) but it was certainly better than a night without my CPAP.

I don't post much, but I am so thankful to have found this community. You all have been an invaluable resource. Thank you so much!

Well you're a model student. Most of us wait till after an episode of illness and not being able to use our machine before we think of having a full face mask available. Glad you're settling in well.

I've had a similar experience for almost 6 months now and have an AirFit 10 waiting patiently for my next big day of sinus hell I will soon have some days off to test drive it for a full night too. I was worried originally about Mirage Micro nasal interface due to some moderate occasional sinus congestion but it has worked out well. I use half a dose of Afrin maybe twice a month on average to deal with that.

So happy also that I found this place and have referred a friend or two here also. I appreciate the invaluable info and collected experience and expertise I find here. One day I'll register too I promise
