Hey guys,
Thanks again for all your help before. As soon as I started sleeping on my stomach I was able to fall asleep and was getting full night's of sleep with an AHI under 3 which was great!
My problem is I've been suffering from severe nausea all day since I've used the CPAP. I went back to my doctor who lowered the pressure, but the past two nights I've used the lower pressure I still feel sick and my AHI has gone up almost 10 points.
I looked online but didn't see a lot about nausea and CPAP usage. My doctor said he never had a patient with nausea without any of the bloating/gas symptoms. I have IBS but I've never had this type of nausea before.
I went one night without the CPAP and felt like the nausea diminished but was back to my daytime sleepiness.
Anyone with similar symptoms/advice? Thanks in advance!
Nausea Using CPAP
Re: Nausea Using CPAP
Hi, sorry to hear you don't feel well, but in case you haven't thought of it - most newbies see things in terms of OSA/Cpap - not everything is necessarily related to Cpap and any number of other things could be going on, in which case if you still don't feel well tomorrow, maybe see a doctor. You could have eaten something 'wrong' unknowingly, or be having even cardiac issues (nausea can be a symptom of serious stuff) unrelated to Cpap, so it's important not to assume anything. Let us know how you're doing when you know more. Nausea is not a normal Cpap side effect.

This may not be related but look on this forum for Aerophagia. It might be close.
I sympothize with you. I have menier's and my main symptom is nausea. I carry gallon zip lock bags and Phenergan with me at al times.

Re: Nausea Using CPAP
possibly swallowing too much air which is messing with your stomach, it normally just causes excessive belching and flatulence, but I could see nausea being a side effect also, especially considering you have a sensitive digestive system. I see you are using a ffm which could cause the above if you tend to open your mask when you sleep, thought about taping or strapping your chin to keep your mouth closed while you sleep, see if that resolves the issue?

Re: Nausea Using CPAP
I get heartburn and nausea if my pressure is too low. I'm guessing it's something like reflux. I find I feel better if I turn up my minimum APAP pressure.
