Is an S9 machine upgradeable ?

Post by Physician » Thu Nov 13, 2014 11:24 pm

My S9 is 3.5 years old and the display shows SW SX474-0602. A friend just got an S9 and the display shows more identification numbers and a slightly different menu.

This newer machine shows:

SW SX474-1203
BID SX525-0301
VID 1
RID 100
HID SX496-0212

My machine only shows the SW entry, not the last four. Can my S9 be upgraded, and if so how, and should it be done ?

What do each of these entries signify ?

Yes, by buying a Philips. Jim

No, either get a new S9 made in 2014 or get AirSense 10 AutoSet For Her
A10 For Her does more than the regular A10 Autoset

I figured there had to be multiple versions available because some machines can deal with SD cards that are over 2 GB in size and some machines like my old one choke everytime

Have you tried the AirSense 10 ? If so please compare and contrast to the S9.

How is this new S9 better than my 3.5 year old S9 ?

You can look at features of both (and many more machines) on Cpap.com - lots of info, pix, reviews, etc. etc.

I think I saw something about firmware upgrades for the Airsense 10's--but no idea how to, etc.
(But it would probably be a combination of piles of money and/or the grandchild of their choice)
AFAIK, the only machines which can be upgraded by the consumer are DeVillBiss.

If I loved something I wouldn't be wanting to change it, have you heard by changing the firmware, it will play .mp3's or show movies on the bedroom ceiling.

My Remstar Tanks won't do either things, yet! Jim

I has also heard the new S10's can get firmware upgrades over the air, but his has yet to be proven. I have a funny feeling unless they find a truly critical bug this will turn out to be a vaporware feature that was meant to sound good and suck people into buying the product.

I'll bet that they can ALL be upgraded. Even the old Legacy models in my profile could be upgraded (firmware). Unfortunately, the original version 2.5 was the best. The 2.6, 2.7 and 2.8 seemed to have characteristics I haven't particularly liked (I have machines with all firmware versions). One reason I know it is that I have the 2.8 firmware upgrade programs for the Auto and Pro 2......but have no reason to install them in any of my machines.
