Suggestions on a machine for traveling.
Suggestions on a machine for traveling.
I am planning on going out of town in a couple of weeks and really don't want to pack up my S9 and take it with me. I does come with a very good bag and is easily transportable. But the power cord is routed around the back of my nightstand & then behind the bed and is a hassle to remove and replace. Not only that but we usually get home late and tired on Sunday and the thought of setting it back up is just not appealing.
Any an all suggestions will be much appreciated.

"in a couple of weeks " give you time to buy a travel/backup machine which you should have amyway.cnl390 wrote:I am planning on going out of town in a couple of weeks and really don't want to pack up my S9 and take it with me. I travel with my S9 all the time...it's not that cumbersome to set up.
A less expensive alternative to buying a spare machine might be to purchase a spare power cord /converter.... you can leave the primary one at home routed in your headboard.
They're about $60 on cpap.com

Re: Suggestions on a machine for traveling.
I'm with Dave, buying a spare power supply to live in the travel bag will be your cheapest option. I find the bag very convenient, and I totally understand the aggravation of rerouting the power cord, especially when trying to wind down after a trip.

how much does does having energy and not choking during the night mean to you?cnl390 wrote:I am planning on going out of town in a couple of weeks and really don't want to pack up my S9 and take it with me. Re: Suggestions on a machine for traveling.
I purchased a gently used DeVilbiss Auto from Secondwindcpap.com for travel and as a backup. Very reasonable price and a 1 year warranty.

Re: Suggestions on a machine for traveling.
Traveling with a cpap is no big deal. Use the case it came in, place the motor part of the machine in a ziplock plastic bag and place it in the gray bin. If you have pre TSA approval the cpap stays in the case.
Would you leave your medication at home? You insulin? Your cane? Your eye glasses? you get the idea. Cpap is something you need so issue it and travel with it.

So when you machine breaks you can have two power cords.Denial Dave wrote:A less expensive alternative to buying a spare machine might be to purchase a spare power cord /converter.... you can leave the primary one at home routed in your headboard.
For me it is much easier to keep the spare machine packed up and ready-to-go - but hey do it your way and just travel without the machine, it is much easier.

Re: Suggestions on a machine for traveling.
GUEST---I'm happy that you have the cash to do that. Unfortunately, not everyone has the funds available to purchase a spare machine.
A $60 backup power converter will do the job until funds are available for a spare machine.

If money is the problem they wouldn't be travelling now would they.
Re: Suggestions on a machine for traveling.
Unless they're traveling for work, or planning an extended stay to care for an ailing relative, or to receive additional medical treatment far from home, or maybe they spent their savings to fulfill a bucket list trip and neglected to factor in an additional $300+ for a SECOND machine. The OP did SAY they wanted a second machine for travel, we just put forth a thriftier option.

Denial Dave the OP asked for suggestions...
Why not let the OP choose what it is they want to do? Why do you feel it is up to you to choose for them?
So I made suggestions.cnl390 wrote:Any an all suggestions will be much appreciated.

A backup machine really is a longer term solution tho. Put the $60 towards a used machine from Craigslist or right here on the forum.cnl390 wrote:I am planning on going out of town in a couple of weeks and really don't want to pack up my S9 and take it with me. Re: Suggestions on a machine for traveling.
Traveling with a machine different from your usual machine requires changes you may not anticipate.
Picture a very frustrated frog spending 10 minutes trying to get the tank together and into its "garage".
Besides, I want to show off my lovely new toy next time I visit relatives.
I will hang onto my Devillbiss to use on DC if the power goes out again;
but the new baby goes traveling! (unless we go camping--JK)

I am working on a onesie.

Is that the ugliest yellow you've ever seen?
