For women PCOS and OSA

Post by Valkyria » Thu Oct 16, 2014 3:58 pm

Extremely interesting reading for those with PCOS and OSA, I wish I would have known this 15 yrs ago when I was diagnosed with PCOS. I spoke to my GP yesterday she had not heard about the correlation between these two. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3030192/

Hi - doesn't apply to me, but it's very interesting reading. This stuff gets more so every day, and it sure isn't just about e.g. snoring (as some people believe!) or being overweight.

Excellent article. It's useful for anyone with OSA and insulin resistance, but particularly relevant for those of us with PCOS. My 13 year old daughter had been diagnosed with PCOS and Insulin resistance despite the fact that she is very thin--she got my lousy genes. I'm curious if there are already signs of OSA. She's seeing a new endo next month and I'm going to bring it up.

My daughter started out with a very narrow airway (she got my facial structure, too, poor kid) but the orthodontia has made a huge difference. I had her seen by an ENT who checked her airway, and it's really clear now. A herbst appliance helped bring her jaw forward.
