Do I need a new CPAP machine?

Post by dbolt75 » Wed Oct 08, 2014 6:14 am

Mine is 5 years old next month. What's the life on a CPAP machine?

I have a Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle200 and I just bought new parts for it last week. Now all of a sudden it's not working. The display screen flashes and shows an "E 1" message - I guess some kind of error code? Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it? I have tried unplugging and plugging back in. It worked briefly at one point last night, but has gone back to not working again.

I want to get a new machine, but I need to get this thing to function for another couple of weeks while I look into it.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Last night was horrible. First night in 5 years I've slept without my CPAP. I don't want to go through it again!

Thanks!

Strong case for a back up machine. I shutter to think about going without my machine... anyway... most machines will get about five years on them. Mine gave out in four. It's like asking "how long will a car last"... some can go a lot longer than others. I'd say yours is finished...

The clinical manual might offer what the error code means....generally they are never anything remotely good.
You can request that manual for your machine here. It's listed way down near the bottom of the page.

In the meantime I will do some poking around to see if I can find a published list of the F & P error codes.
If I do find something I will post back here.

If you can find a service manual for your machine it likely has the error codes listed....most of the time though with the bulk of these error codes the advice to fix the problem is "replace PCA" which is not good news.
or you might give these guys a call because they fix cpap machines
