All my life I've slept on my right side, pretty much all night every night. When I'm having a tough time going to sleep, I know that's the ONLY position that will work. But that has become painful in recent years--my hip and back start to ache, my pillow pushes the mask into my face, leaks happen, and it disturbs my already poor post menopausal sleep. My problem hasn't been falling asleep, it's staying asleep.
With the Wisp, I can lie on my back without a leaking issue. I've slept that way the past two nights and there's been NO pain in my hips or back. I had some good sleep for the first time in months. My FF mask leaks like a sieve on my back, and for some reason I was never comfortable with nasal pillows on my back because of the drag on the hose. The wisp is so flexible that the hose can drag a bit but not pull away enough to leak, it doesn't dig into my face or nose. The headgear does a good job stabilizing everything (though it makes wicked marks on my face when I do sleep on my side).
The only difficulty I've had with the wisp is when I have a little nasal congestion, but otherwise I really, really like it.

Me too! The Wisp is my first mask, but it works so well for me that I don't see the need to experiment with any others. Dumb luck....

Re: I'm sleeping on my back thanks to Wisp
Does the nasal congestion go away immediately (or 30 seconds to a minute) if you pull the Wisp cushion away from the nose or is it lasting longer? The reason I asked is that I had problems with this sort of congestion from the pressure of the cushion on the sides of my nose. That problem wasn't present when I tried the Swift FX Nano. Surprised the heck out of me as I though for sure I would have that pressure congestion with the Nano too...but I didn't.
I only lasted 90 minutes with the Wisp (with a gazillion nasal congestion wake ups ..pull mask away..nose clears up...back to sleep...wake up with congestion...repeated well not a gazillion times but it sure felt like it) but was able to use the Nano all night for multiple nights with various headgear configurations.
Something to think about if the congestion is related the mask weight itself.
If the congestion isn't related to the mask itself...never mind what I just said.

Re: I'm sleeping on my back thanks to Wisp
Welcome to the only way I can sleep without having hip and back pain the next day. I too use the wisp and because I sleep on my back and don't move I don't even have to tighten the mask at all. I really like it but am going to try the swift fx pillows to see if I like those better.
Pugsy,
I know what you mean about congestion from the mask. I get it on the left side and think it is because how it sits it puts a light pressure on the sinus there. It only lasts for maybe a half minute after I turn on my machine. If the mask is on with the machine off the sinus blocks but if I pull the mask up it stops. So your not alone.

Re: I'm sleeping on my back thanks to Wisp
The Wisp is my first mask and I see no reason to change other than maybe I'll get a full face mask to keep handy for the eventual cold that could leave my nose plugged. I enjoy sleeping on my back and on my sides but my right shoulder isn't happy if I sleep on that side too long. Before starting CPAP two weeks ago sleeping on my back was stupid and I avoided it. I have to shift the Wisp slightly when I sleep on my side to prevent a leak jetting into my eyeball and now I've become so used to doing that little mask shift that I don't even think about it.

Re: I'm sleeping on my back thanks to Wisp
It's good to know that I am not totally out there all alone with my weird little problems with congestion from a mask that weighs next to nothing.angeltink wrote:So your not alone.
I am so weird that the weight of my sunglasses will cause congestion. In my situation it's the area along the bridge of the nose where the turbinates are located.
For this reason I simply won't do any mask that puts pressure on that area...pretty much eliminates all full face masks which would be eliminated anyway because of the lower back straps and my neck.
That's okay though...In 5 years I haven't really had a need to use a full face mask anyway. Even with the common cold I have been able to get the nose open enough to let the extra humidity finish opening up the nasal congestion from the cold symptoms.
Have never missed a night due to nasal congestion and not having a full face mask.
