Sleepyhead Notes.

Post by AlabamaAl » Thu Sep 11, 2014 7:08 am

I have started using the note (journal) feature on sleepyhead software, filling in things such as how I feel in the morning, weight, morning air temp and humidity, and problems I may have had during the night along with "fixes" I have tried along with how successful they were.

I would like to know if anyone else uses this feature, and what kind of information that they have found helpful to record on a daily basis. I plan to use this information in the future, when I have a problem and ask myself what did I do to fix it, and to track my progression.

Do you use the feature?
Have you found this record helpful, or am I just wasting time by fooling with it?

I hadn't paid attention to that feature. It's a great idea and I will be using it to do similar things.
Right now I'm doing an experiment with Tylenol at bed time to see if easing the mild pain in my knee will effect my sleep quality. Just starting so nothing interesting to report. But the notes feature is a great place to keep track.

I am not consistent with the notes section, but put the same data and update after work to see my alertness level with regard to feeling sleepy. There are many other factors that can be impacted by this, but it helps.

I used to use the Notes section to record when I changed masks but found it difficult to retrieve that information when I needed it so just began writing notes on the calendar next to my computer. If I have a particularly bad AHI or leak night, I will still write down what I believe may have contributed to it.

I love Sleepyhead's notes feature. I literally use it everyday to keep track of any abnormalities, equipment changes, therapy experiments and even personal notes about how things are going. I just wish there was an add-on database one could use to organize, search and save the added notes... but even without that fanciful wishlist, SH's notes are a great feature.

Interestingly enough, you can also leave notes in Encore Pro 2.xx on the PDF reports but it's a huge PITA and there are limits to how much text you can include and limits to how you can format it. I'm not sure about ResScan for ResMed machines and its capability for notes. Maybe someone else can chine in on that

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I'm glad this thread was started.. I haven't heard much about how people use SleepyHead Journal, so I'm watching this thread with interest.

I recently added a Journal backup feature, which will help make it easier later on to ship notes around between profiles (once I get around to writing the importer half)

I'll take extra care and try and make sure the upgrade path between 0.9.6 and the next release keeps notes intact.

If you notice anything that would be a big improvement here with the Journal, please let me know

It would be nice to time stamp the note for each session making notes. The day is implied as well as the notes order.
So notes might look like:

8:15 AM blah, blah, etc.
12:15 PM Just thought of this other thing ...
etc.

I'd be happy if SleepyHead just grabbed the system clock for this purpose only and didn't bother with all that stuff Respironics requires to get it right.

I don't know if you already have this feature, I am relatively new to Sleepyhead, but it would be nice if there were an option to read all the accumulated notes, with a date stamp, on one page, and a print option in order to get a hard copy. This would eliminate the need to backspace one day at a time when looking for a particular subject.

On the subject of information I include in the notes, I started yesterday including my morning blood sugar, and BP readings. Figured that I take the readings anyway, and it might be interesting to see changes in relation to time on therapy. Any chance of added graphs for BP and Sugar readings??

The hardcopy idea's not a bad one.. I'll see what I can do later on..

I always meant on adding BP and Sugar graphs.. I added the data channels for them and everything, but I never had the equipment at home to play with it.
I think I needed to find a neater way of adding multiple entries per day for journal stuff, as things like blood sugar need to be checked quite a few times a day by those who need to.

No promises with any of this stuff for very next version though.. I really want a stable build out first, and then afterwards hopefully I'll have some breathing room to work on this kind of stuff. :-}
