fixing mask leaks

Post by cpap56 » Sat Aug 23, 2014 9:46 pm

I am relatively new to CPAP and have not been able to find a mask that works for me. I am now using a hybrid mask that I like but when I turn over in my sleep the mask leaks. I can't tell if I have the mask too tight or not tight enough. Any suggestions?

Check out Roosters hints for using the Hybrid type of mask.

Where is it leaking from? Nasal pillows or the cushion over the mouth?

Maybe a different bed pillow.......if you're using a standard fiberfill pillow.
There are some that work better with this therapy and there are some that are designed to work with this therapy.

A leak strap really helped me bring down my leak numbers.
Max Pressure 14
Min Pressure 7

cpap56 - what drove you to a hybrid mask? I tried one as an alternative to an FFM and it did not go well. Then moved to pillows - much easier to control leaks...

I use nasal pillows too (F&P Opus 360) and have found that they do reduce leaks compared to a nasal mask that I started with (F&P Eson). I have a contour cpap pillow that reduces it even further. Will be trying a different brand of pillows mask next time around to see if it works even better. Depending on how you sleep makes a difference and me being a side sleeper nasal pillow seems the work best when trying to control leaks.

I strongly recommend you try the P10s if you can.
