memory foam pillows?

Post by sleepypirate555 » Sat Aug 05, 2006 1:32 am

For my birthday (which is today! I'm 22!) my mom is getting me a memory foam pillow (I'm currently borrowing my friend's pillow). I've found that it helps me keep my mask on pretty well leak free all night. Yay! Has anyone else found that? Just wondering. And my birthday is my 3 week cpap anniversary! Yay! Anyway, thanx in advance I'm still having huge problems leaving replies! Thanx! I'm gonna go have some cake!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
TO YOU AND MANY MORE!!!!

Congrats on getting the pillow you want for your birthday and on your 3 week cpap anniversary. It is great for an apniac (is there such a word?) to have understanding family.
Yes my memory foam pillow works very well for me as does a pillow from Target ($12 - I think.) I switch off between the two. If I can't get comfy with one - I switch. Sometimes I switch in the night and don't even remember doing it. Hope your treatment continues to go well for you. Clue us in on your setup (machine, masks, humidifier, software etc).

Eat some cake for me!!

Happy Birthday!

Lots of cpap users swear by the memory foam pillows, toppers and mattresses! ( Personally, I enjoy the comfort of memory foam, but I just can not tolerate the heat buildup!)

Happy Birthday!

I too used the memory foam pillow but also experienced too much heat. I use a feather pillow which I can scrunch to accomidate my mask.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
I don't like the memory foam pillows. I got a papillow yesterday and last night I slept so well my husband had to wake me up this morning! I could sleep in any position and be comfortable.

bdp,
I also use a papillow and find that sleeping face down, with my chin firmly planted on the lower "arm" keeps my mouth closed nicely and my mask is still well positioned into the curve. To position this way, I push the lower "arm" up slightly as I bury my chin on it.

Can anyone provide some info on this item? Difference btwn it and "memory foam"? Is memory foam better if contoured or not?

Thanks,

The papillow is shaped unlike any other pillow. Do a google search on it and you can see it for yourself. It is about 4" thick and soft but firm(?). I use the hybrid mask so planting my chin on it is a bit hard, but by holding the pillow sideways I can get my face between the arms and be fairly comfortable.
