Phillips part numbers, ack!

Post by Roboski » Thu Apr 16, 2015 7:07 pm

Hi everyone: working with my DME to get me a new Phillips machine, and have noticed that their (Phillips) part number scheming is very confusing, at least to me. Can anyone review this and let me know if I have the right numbers for current products? Here we go:

Auto:

The latest and greatest (I think): PR System One Remstar 60 Series Auto machine: DS560S (machine only), DS560HS (machine and humidifier, no heated tubing), DS560TS (machine, humidifer, tubing). Correct?

One step down (I think): PR System One Remstar Auto CPAP machine with A-Flex: DS550 Series, now discontinued but can still be purchased here and there?

Fixed:

The latest and greatest: PR System One Remstar 60 Series machine: same format as the Auto, only DS450S, DS450HS, DS450TS?

I hate their maddeningly similar products names too! You think they could use Impala, Volt, Impreza, Escalade, etc. etc., something to clearly distinguish one machine from another. It's all System One, Remstar, 60 series, blah blah, they just keep adding more names.

Anyway, thanks for any and all help!

agtree with you 100%. Their naming system as you said is adding a long string of names and after 30 years or so it becaomes very lengthy. REMSTAR is a name from many years ago and now inlcuded in that string. Model 60 however is the new one in that long string

For their new model, a newly generated name system that is simple is needed.

nope, you don't have it right... except by accident.

the important bits are the three(sometimes four) numbers.

xyz
x=
2, crap (plus)
4, fixed (pro)
5, auto (auto)
6, fixed bilevel (bipap)
7, auto bilevel (auto bipap)
9, asv (autoSV)
10, ST (S/T)
11, avaps (avaps)

y=
5, 50 series (older)
6, 60 series (current)

z=
0, US model
1, canada/UK model.

so anything x5z is outdated.

460 = fixed current model
560 = auto current model.

as to the crap after the numbers, that's just kit codes and doesn't show up on the machine.

and, yes, their naming scheme sucks donkey balls.

Thanks everyone! I get to drive my DME nuts every three years with all my kooky nattering about this machine and that machine and does this mask me look fat, etc. etc. Then they get me what I want just to get me to go away... But my contact Mansoor is awesome, just in case he is reading this. You rock, Mansoor!
