then it truly is simply a personal preference with the sound
I tried the top of the line S8 and the PR 1 - tried both in my home-
I bought the PR 1 mostly because it was the quietest- my wife literally said- "is the new machine running?"

both the s8 and PR 1 are great machines- both do a good job-

in my opinion it really is personal preference- I am only commenting because it just doesnt fit my
experience that PR 1 is loud- it was quietest I could find and why I bought it !

I have not tried a S8 but do have the PR System One Auto. It is super quiet and leads me to believe that something is wrong with the one you have.

Just an educated one - that is the combo I know of that does "classes".

If you are in an HMO they probably does give a flying leap about insurance codes - so if you want another machine lots of luck - be persistent but expect to pay out of pocket so get a copy of the prescription to buy online.

I have to agree with packer. I've tried the S8 Elite II auto for 30 days, and the PR System 1 Pro for 5 months and my wife said the PR System 1 is much quieter and she liked it for noise better than the S8.

No machine is completely silent, but they have come a long way.

Also, is the noise really coming from your machine? or is it coming from the exhaust port on your mask?

I have the S9 ResMed c-pap machine which is almost five years old. I'm due a new machine next month. It's my plan right now to get the updated ]S10. My c-pap is self titrating and controls my apnea very well. I'm able to check not only the hours that I have slept but also my apnea and hypotnea combined rating. The problem that I'm having is that no one can sleep in the same room with me because of the loud sounds. Evidently it sounds like a motorcycle. I don't hear the sounds myself. Do any of you know what causes all of this noise?

I can only comment on what I have used, but I have the DevilBiss Intellipap APAP machine and I love it. It's so quiet that it's almost silent. It's about the same sound as a gentle breeze. It also tracks data. If you want quiet, that's one machine you could consider

Just for a bit of reference, I was fooling around with this page:

https://www.cpap.com/cpap-compare-chart/all-BiPAP

Looks like the Resmeds come in at about 3db less than Respironics. With my old rock and roll ears, I'd never hear the difference, but someone more sensitive than I just might be disturbed.
