Embarrassed - but

Post by ibayoung » Thu Apr 02, 2015 5:49 pm

I have a new gel mask - works much better

But I drool at night any easy way to keep the seal? I know I can ask for a RX, but hate to have another pill.

Any help would really be appreciated!

I dont know of anything to stop the drool, and dont be embarrased about that , I for one have had the same problem since I started using a mask , didnt matter what kind of mask, I still drooled, and still do to this day. I cannot use a ff mask, I imagine the problem with a seal is really bad with it, I use a nasal mask so it does not break the seal. But my drippy nose sure does! So i do know the aggravation that it can cause. Maybe if you can learn to use a nasal mask, it would help with the drool breaking the mask seal? Worth a try... : )

Sure nice to know I'm not alone I need a full face mask though.

This probably happens when the mask is on and when lying down, the facial skin is distorted and when that happens, the mouth also tends to 'go crooked' so to speak, not much to do to change that I 'm afraid.

Might try a mask liner to help absorb the moisture before it breaks the seal.

If I stop drooling, then I KNOW I'm in trouble!

Gosh I drool right now without a mask and treatment which I should be starting this week hopefully. Don't be embarrassed by it, drooling is normal at night especially if your dreaming of good things.

OK: this might sound weird but it worked for me. My wife has reusable breastfeeding bra pads made out of cloth.

I folded one in half and put at the bottom of my mask and it sucked up the drool. No more drowning in my own drool or broken seal.

Take it for what its worth, but it worked liked a charm.

As a side note: If you are not using a Padacheek or Remzzz mask liners, IOW just the bare mask cushion, then all you need to do to keep things sanitary is to use some mask wipes... that'll save you having to disassemble and clean your mask every day. Our host CPAP.com sells them at a good price:

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
