Hello from Australia

Post by 308hjute » Wed Mar 18, 2015 4:41 pm

Hi all,

I've just joined your forum after going through the initial diagnosis for OSA a couple of weeks ago.

I'm a 47 year old male from Sydney, Australia, and am currently trialling a ResMed AutoSense machine with a Simplus full face mask.

I've been using the machine for a bit over a week, first night was brilliant, had a couple of not so good nights since, then the last couple of needs have been good with some fiddling with the mask fit. I'm putting this down to getting used to the mask, and a dental issue I've been putting up with. Had the tooth pulled last weekend, so looking forward to further improvements in the near future.

I have a followup appointment with my equipment provider on Saturday, I'm thinking I may ask for another mask to try.

Anyway, looks like I have plenty of reading to do to get myself up to speed with this whole new stage in my life.

Cheers

Kevin

If you can breathe through your nose, try the Airfit P10. It's a great mask

By all means, try another mask. You won't know what you like until you know.

The simplus full face mask is the first one I tried and the one I use the most. Two nights ago I retried the Eson nasal mask and liked it so much I used it again last night.

I also bought a circadience fabric full face mask and leaning toward sending it back because it hurts. (It has a 30 day money back guarantee).

I can breathe through my nose but for some reason feel like I'm suffocating with the nasal pillows. I can't seem to make them work.

I do find no matter what mask, I like having the featherlight tube attachment, which gets the weight of the main tube off of the mask you are using.

I started 3 months ago tomorrow. Not feeling great yet, but not napping during the day any more and getting more done... But pretty miserable during the day.

Welcome and good luck!

Hi all,

Thank you for the welcomes.

Mgaggie, I have a good mate who lives at Mincha, up near the Murray. Hoping to get back down there in the next few months for a visit.

Dazza, how's Shazza? Sorry mate, couldn't help myself. I see you are waiting on a AirSense from Mark too. I am rapt I spotted that.

Kev

G'day Kev. I'm from Sth Oz too like Dazza.( Hi Daz!).
HJ with a 308 eh? Nice but a bit too modern for mine, I got an FC with a mighty 138 grey, couldn't pull the skin off a rice custard but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Make sure you use the trial period to try out as many masks as possible, everyone's different. What works for some may not suit you and vice versa. I also started out with the Simplus and I thought it was Ok, just needed a bit of getting used to but the I tried the Eson just to feel the difference and found it MUCH better. Despite trying out about a half dozen others, I always went back to the Eson so that's what I ended up buying.

Good luck!

Matt.

I presume you have a ResMed AutoSet, not AutoSense. Is it an S9 model or an AirSense 10 model. S9 has the controls on the top, AirSense (A10) has the controls on a sloping panel.

Please fill in your equipment on your profile. There's a link on how to do that in my signature line at the bottom of this post.
