I have attempted to find the lowest possible pressures to avoid gastric problems. The higher the pressure, the more air forced into my stomach. I settled on 7.5 EPAP and 10 IPAP. I am including My March 6th data to show a good night at these pressures. On March 8th, I had a bad night at these pressures and increased the IPAP by .5, but it only got worse on March 9th. Last night I turned it way up to 11/14 and slept well, but suffered from the gastric issues in the morning.
I've also had some very slight stuffiness. I do not have a cold or a runny nose, but a very small amount of crusted nasal mucus high up in my nose which seems to be restricting the passage way. I've tried using a nasal saline rinse, but it just dries back up. I suspect this is the cause of the problem. But, I do not know how to solve it other than higher pressures.
Is it possible to setup an Auto machine so that it ignores snores? From advice on another earlier thread, it was suspected that using Auto CPAP, my pressures went very high (as high as 20 at times, last was at 17) because of snores. The gastric issues were quite bad at these pressures, but much better at the lower pressures. It seems that on nights and times in the night when a little nasal congestion is in the way, an Auto machine could power through it, then turn back down. Is there any such machine?
Also, about a year ago I had surgery for a deviated septum and nasal breath is significantly better now. I've had chronic sinusitis in the past. Could my sinuses be the cause of the slight crusting and flow limitation in the upper nasal way? Should I go back to an ENT?
Any other suggestions for dealing with this in the meantime? Since getting an auto machine is likely not trivial, considering I just got a bipap recently and my doctor didn't want to prescribe auto at my last visit.
I uploaded the sleepyhead charts from the three dates mentioned above here: https://unsee.cc/desiruto/

Are you using the humidifer? Has the ambient humidity in your area been high lately? Try turning down the humidifier... but don't hesitate to turn it up if that works better for you.

Perhaps slightly higher humidity recently, yes. I was at a setting of 3. It is normally very dry here, but perhaps a little less dry the last week or so.Julie wrote:Are you using the humidifer? I just get uncomfortable with sharing private medical information on a public forum and the last thread seemed to have completed its useful lifespan. I do appreciate the help though. Any thoughts on the current situation?Pugsy wrote:No.paps wrote: Is it possible to setup an Auto machine so that it ignores snores?

No. I don't have any other thoughts on this situation. If you are having nasal issues and think that they may be a factor in the snores then I would suggest seeing a doctor to rule out or rule in and go from there.

Re: Rise in AHI / nasal congestion / sinuses ?
Things seemed to be going real well for a while. Whatever is causing the flow limitation in my nasal passage is pretty slight, but it seems to be having a big affect on my sleep, at least at the lower pressures. I fell asleep a couple of times when I didn't want to after a couple bad nights.
Re: Rise in AHI / nasal congestion / sinuses ?
I found that shooting some nose spray in the nostrils before installing the thing helps. You could go to a full face I guess. I don't use the humidifier as I hate the idea of breathing water and hygiene issues associated with water sitting around in the hose all day etc etc.... But I'm anal.
