how to check out a supposedly brand new AirSense 10 Autoset

Post by Quaffin1 » Mon Feb 23, 2015 10:11 pm

I am new patient for CPAP.
I see a brand new Airsense 10 Autoset advertised across town for $500.
Sounds like a good deal.
User says it was only turned on to make sure it worked.
Is there Anyway to verify that this unit has no usage. I think from posts that these units record usage hours?
What should I look for to indicate there might be a problem?

Thanks for any help.

You want to power it on and check the "run hours." Run hours can not be reset to zero.

You'll need to get into the clinician's menu. You can get the clinician's manual at apneaboard.com. (setup manuals.)

Press and hold the dial and home buttons for three seconds. The display will change.

I'm not 100% sure from there. I think you turn the knob to go to settings, press the knob, then work your way to configuration, press the knob, then turn it to get to "about," which shows run hours.

The "Run Hours" on the machine can not be reset like the "Usage Hours"......to find the machine Run hours use the round selector knob to access "My Options" on the home screen, push in on the round knob to enter then roll the selector to the last menu item "About" ....push the round selector to enter the About menu and then scroll to "Run Hours".... That number will represent the total run hours on the machine that can't be reset.

If the regular user screen doesn't show that entry (depends how machine access is set) you can also go into the clinical menu by pushing and holding both the round know and the Home button silmiltaneously for about three seconds and you'll see the home screen change to allow access into the clinical menu then follow the above instructions to go into my options, then about and check Run Hours there.

Good point.........it's the latest machine that's only been out since around October 2014, I got mine in November and just checked my run hours and it has 1130 total hours on it, so they all should be pretty low hours

thanks all,
My doctor seems to be doing all the typical things that I have been warned about while reading about sleep apnea, since I
had my titration study a couple weeks ago.
I haven't been told any details about the results other my doctor
has sent the prescription to the DME for a CPAP machine with heated humidity with a setting of 11cm.
This was sent to Apria Healthcare.
This DME has some very bad reviews, and looks like a recipe for them to just try to hand me a bare bones
basic CPAP machine, as per the prescription.

So I saw this person offering this brand new (never used) top of the line unit for sale at reasonable price, just a few miles from
me. Thought it would be worth the effort to at least go have a look at it, maybe even negotiate the price down alittle.

I have the mask already from my sleep study. Videos have shown me how to set the unit up to my recommended pressures.
I am alittle scared, since I really don't know what I'm doing, but thought if I decide to get this unit. I would just set the unit
to Auto, with the Auto Ramp feature on and the EPR to auto and see what happens.

If I decide to buy this unit, I may have some questions about recommended initial settings. Maybe some of you with experience will have some
suggestions on settings and features to turn on or off.

Thanks

there is no 'top of the line' unit... neither from resmed or respironics, the further 'up' you get, the more the line branches off into specialist units for special needs.

just fyi... for that matter, the 'for her' autoset has more features than the regular autoset.
