I have my follow-up appt tomorrow...

Post by Billmanweh » Wed Feb 18, 2015 10:28 pm

With my old machine, my pressure was around 12-13. And about a month ago I saw a new Dr and got a new machine, mask, etc. He started me off at a 7. I then changed my own pressure to 8, and later to 9. My numbers look ok, but I'm starting to get leaks. Not sure if it's because of the increased pressure.

And tomorrow I have my first follow-up appt.

I think I figured out the SH software, so I'll try a screen shot;

I forgot to add that information.

I went from a Respironics M Series and Swift Headgear to a ResMed AirSense10 Elite and an Airfit P10.

Your leak numbers are a bit ugly and it takes a lot for me to call a leak "ugly".
Probably should evaluated the actual leak graph itself to see just how bad the leak is and how long it is bad.

Was the time in large leak mainly at something just above 24 and less than 30 L/min or was it a lot higher?
That sort of evaluation.
I personally don't panic with any large leak time as long as the percent of time is single digits....your % for the one night was 30% and that's a lot of time in large leak.
But your long term large leak % isn't horrible...

Did you also change mask types? Or is this P10 just a new P10?

I did change masks, I went from a headgear to the P10. And I hadn't noticed any leaks until the last week or so.

Headgear isn't a mask..all masks have some sort of headgear.
Did you go from a full face mask (covered your nose and mouth) to the P10?
I am just trying to figure out if you went from a mask that covered your mouth to a nasal pillow mask and then try to figure out if the leak is from mouth or mask fit.

I can't make anything out of this...I'm just confused by the leak numbers

Those are the overview graphs. Can you get me the detailed page just for last night?
Looks like this. This one just happens to be my all time record for large leak.
Your leak number you want to try to avoid is 24 L/min...and once we go above that number we look to see just how far it went.
Between 24 and 30 L/min the machine can still do a fairly decent job but above that things start getting iffy and the further we go above 30 the iffier it gets. Above 35 L/min and the machine pretty much becomes clueless both in terms of sensing and recording events and responding.

95% numbers just mean that for 95% of the night you were at OR BELOW that number....it is not where you were at for 95% of the night. People tend to forget the "or below" part of the definition...so sometimes a high 95% number may not be an indication of major issues.

dark green is the up to the median leak, mid green is up to the 95% leak, and the light green is up to the maximum leak, and the full height of the leak rate is ... how much the max was.

in short, it's WAAAAY too much.

So, even though I hadn't felt like I had a leak issue, it's been leaking too much all along?

Would you try a different mask or ?

Your mask may not be leaking...but your mouth might be.
That's why I wanted to see the actual leak graph to see if it was bad enough to suggest doing something about it...like a new mask in the full face category.
That image above of my record breaking leak....I slept right through all that.
In my case it was a problem with the headgear sliding around because it was stretched way out of shape.

It's the mask. I've never had an issue with leaking/breathing through my mouth.

But there have been times that I've been awaken with the mask leaking.
