New Machine

Tangledhose - saying that my new machine doesn't have all the data is not helping me! It may not be the best machine, but it is WAY better than my old machine.

I am on Medi-cal Caloptima. I pay NO copay. Do really think that I am going to get the best machine out there? Really, we are talking government funded healthcare. For FREE!!! I PAY NOTHING. I work as a nanny part time. So I have very little money. I am grateful for what I can get! You did not answer my question. The only question in my original post was : "How long should I use the machine before trying to look at the data?"
No one has answered this question, just given me crap about your opinion of the data recorded by my new machine.

Is there any one out there that help me with what I have?

So...if it's a brick, there's not much data TO look at. But since you don't want to hear that, not much anyone here can tell you. Use it for a nap, then see if there's anything to even see. DMEs might SAY it's data capable...but from what I have heard, many DMEs LIE. Yup, it's true. And don't get your undies in a wad. You are, apparently, not out a DIME, even if the new machine is a hose dryer with no data.

I did notice when I got my machine that it was set up in the factory default mode, I do not use a DME so my machine was right out of the box from the factory. So after my first night sleep with the machine I discovered I could not see my AHI number on the screen in the sleep report. So I got a hold of a copy of the clinical manual so that I could go into the clinical settings and change things so that I could view a more detailed sleep report in the morning on the screen, a report that included AHI number.

I found the setting in the clinical setup called "Essentials" so if your provider has not set that up for you it can be set up by you. The "Essentials" item needs to be set to "Plus" as opposed to just "On" (the default). So if you can't view your AHI number tomorrow morning on your sleep report screen let me know, I'd be more than happy to help you get that setup properly if it has not been done already by your equipment provider.

Feel free to let me know about this here on this post tomorrow, or if you like send me a Private Message and I can give you step by step instructions to turn that patient function on so you can get your AHI number on the sleep report screen.

We got off on the wrong foot.

I didn't ever say your machine was crap, I have one and its a very good machine, I am sure you will like it, and I am sure you will get good therapy results with it.......it is a nice up-grade to what you have had in the past.

As far as your equipment profile, please don't worry about the humidifier selection as this is a machine that has a built-in humidifier.

Also don't worry about the software selection either as that line item no longer applies to the newer setups like yours.

As far as looking at your data there really is no reason to not start looking at it right away. When you get up you can get the last nights sleep report right from the screen on the machine. If your DME or provider set the machine up for you so that you, the patient has access to the AHI readout on you screen sleep report you'll be able to view your AHI number and also see hours used and those smiley faces if your mask is fitting well and not causing big leaks.

You can also download the latest Sleepyhead software (version 9.8.1) that will work with the new Airsense machines.....the link to download is in my signature area down below my post. You'll be able to start building a database of your available daily data right away so you can spot trends over time with your therapy.

I like the new Airsense for several reasons like smaller foot print on the bedside table, the built-in humidifier is very convienent, and you might also like the new Auto Ramp feature that won't begin ramping up until the machines senses that you are asleep. I have had good luck with my Airsense, no problems, and it's nice and quiet.

Yes, he is my dog. Thanks, I think he's cute and he is a real character. His name is Tigger, and he is my buddy. He was afraid of my cpap at first, but I think he has gotten used to it.

I think we need to be careful here.

Yes, the fully data capable CPAP machines are much better than the A10 CPAP, but the A10 CPAP is much better than the S9 Escape or PRS1 Plus or DS260, and other "true" bricks.

With the true bricks, you're driving blind. With the A10 CPAP or S9 Escape Auto, you're driving with your windows frosted up, and you've scraped a hole right in front of the driver. With the fully data capable machines, you have clean windows on all four sides.

It's sad that they still sell non-fully data capable machines, but we need to realize that the A10 CPAP or S9 Escape Auto does have information that is useful for the patients. For those who get screwed with this machine, we need to help them get the best use of what they have.

However, shame on you, ResMed and Respironics, for not making all the machines fully data capable.
