2 Nights of Apap, MORE Tired

Post by JayPSU » Fri Jul 28, 2006 10:29 am

After 2 nights with Apap, and yes I understand it's only been 2 nights, I have slept soundly and yet I feel more tired...like I could just keep on sleeping. Is this normal? Why does this happen? I guess I'm not going to be one of the people who describe their first week on xpap as an awakening or epiphany.

Jay PSU - could be the sleep debt that people mention in this forum. Maybe now that you are sleeping soundly your body is craving more sleep in the beginning to pay off some of that sleep debt that has been builiding up while you were not on therapy.

On another note what is the highest pressure that your machine has gone up to when you have been using it and how is your ultra mirage full face mask been working? Have you experienced leaks. I had a hard time in the beginning especially with leaks.

Let me know.

Jay, you probably need to check your machine settings. Your low might be too low. Try 2 above and 2 below. If you are still tired, then narrow it even more.

Also, after the big hassle you just went through with the evil DMEs , no wonder you are tired. ..

At least you have the right equipment now, so you will soon start feeling better.

Is there a way to check what pressure my machine as been going to for the most part all night WITHOUT having the Smart reader and software? I haven't purchased this just yet.

Linda, I was titrated at a pressure of 14. My doctor has the apap range at 12-18. Maybe my mask isn't quite sealing. I do have a beard, but I trimmed it up before using the machine.

you are NOT going to be able to use the UMFF mask with any kind of beard. There are enough leaks without a beard to impact therapy.

If your titrated pressure was 14cm, I would set the high limit back down to 14cm and see if there is an improvement to how you feel.

Sorry snoredog, I have a full beard and do quite well with my UMFF. It is my one and only mask.
