I have an older ResMed machine and for the best several weeks I have been getting a high-pitch whistle. It seems to have something to do with the humidifier, or perhaps the tubing, but I can not figure it out. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what did you do to try to resolve it? Thanks.

High pitch whistle when using maching
Re: High pitch whistle when using maching
Mine recently started sounding like a baby-lamb...it is driving me nuts! My DME says it's past the warranty date so i am stuck for a while. Would be curious to know as well what others have done...if anything can be done.
UARS sufferer. Average AHI is around 2. Cognition my biggest issue.

If you have an old machine that is on its way out, replace it ASAP with:
1) a cheap used machine off Craigslist from someone that doesn't want their nearly new machine. New, current auto machines with low hours are out there from $200 to $400. You just have to filter out all the crap as old as what you already have, and machines from smokers.
2) The next level is paying for reconditioned units from Secondwind.com that come with a warranty, and
3) finally the new machines from online providers like CPAP.com.
Almost all of those option will actually cost less than going through insurance and a conventional DME unless you have really good insurance. If you had really good insurance, you wouldn't be asking...right?
If your machine is whistling, bleating, grinding or intermittently quitting, it's sending a message, "Replace me now!"

Well, there is always paying to get it repaired but it depends on what kind of equipment you have. It may behoove you to spend the money for a newer model than to pay to repair. I know of a couple of new zero PR S1 560s for sale right here on the forum.miltown wrote:Mine recently started sounding like a baby-lamb...it is driving me nuts!
