Interesting to see a number of you have had multiple reductions...when i first had my turbinoplasty/septoplasty in 2011, my surgeon mentioned that a 2nd turbinate reduction is somewhat common.

Looking at some old notes i have...this next procedure is referred to as a bilateral turbinectomy

The other part of this proposed procedure is a sleep endoscopy, which i really want to have done.

So if you are like me, and have a constantly puffy/swelled turbinates - do you use a full face mask? I've only used nasal pillows but now it seems so obvious to me - why haven't i tried a full mask?! Makes sense no? To try a full mask?

Might be worth a shot. I have tried several to no avail but if you haven't gone this route, it certainly wouldn't hurt to try.

Glad to see this thread. I'm seeing the surgeon this week to talk about nose surgery. I have to tell you that I recently started on a FFM - the Quattro (not the new one) and I really like it. I have been using pillows, and then nasal masks, but any pressure close to my nose seems to aggravate my nasal passages to where they swell up or close off. The full face mask does not cause this problem to occur so you might want to give it a try before more surgery.

Anyone had any experience with a nasal cannula type? How far up into your nose do those go? Seems like that may be a possible option too. I can't think of the name of that particular device, but it is essentially just a Tee fitting on the hose that goes up each nostril. Anybody used one?
Life is a dream…if I'm wearing my Resmed AirTouch F20 cushion and my Autosense 10 Autoset isn't being hijacked by some dung-eating state security troll.

Remember that any Surgery is a sword and not a scalpel. It is extremely hard for a surgeon to guess how much tissue to take out and he/she may take out more or less than optimal. And then, no surgeon can guess how your body will react to the local trauma caused in the short term and long term (inflammation, hypertrophy, empty nose syndrome etc. etc.). That is why a lot of people get multiple operations for septum and turbinates.

I would suggest trying minimally invasive solutions before throwing chemicals (like corticosteroid sprays) or surgery at the problem.

For the longest time, I could not breathe thru my right nostril. So naturally I would breathe more thru the mouth.

I started CPAP 4 months ago thinking I am a mouth breather so got a F10 FFM. Works well for me. AHI less than 1 every night. No Large Leaks. I also started Nasal Rinses with saline water using a Neti pot. I am finding that I breathe thru my nose now. Seems like nasal rinses cut the inflammation in the nasal passages and make it easier to breathe thru the nostrils. And CPAP pressure further assists in opening the nostrils up. I also find myself breathing thru the nose during the day with my mouth shut.

Things have improved so much that I have recently ordered a nasal pillow mask (P10) and will try and get off the FFM.

My 2 cents. YMMV.

This is very dated and incorrect information by a drive-by. Ignore.
