Mask Leak Help

Post by brrit » Mon Jan 19, 2015 9:36 am

I've been wrestling with my mask leaks and wanted some input from folks smarter than myself. I am rotating between a Mirage Liberty and Airfit F10 using Remzzz pads. Last night, I thought I had my leaks under control, but here is my Sleepyhead data.

If I'm reading this accurately, it seems that I've got leaks out the wazoo. But, Sleepyhead's AHI looks pretty good and my Airsense said all was good too.

Should I be happy with these leak rates or continue to fiddle to get a bette looking leak rate graph?

I can't comment about your wazoo, and I can tell you that people trying to look at data here generally hate it when you scrapbook up little bits of stuff... just do a screenshot of the whole screen, and post that.

also, look at the left side scale numbers on the charts.

you cut off the details tab on the left and didn't show any numbers, (another reason not to play clipart scrapbooking.) but looking at the leak chart, it's well within "acceptable".

I'm sorry. New to all of this.

Is this better?

hugely better!

you see the leak numbers, your 95% is only 15lpm... that's not GREAT! but it's pretty good.

Gee, in my world this is a bad leak night:

From your graph, it looks like you had a small leak as soon as you put your mask on before you were even asleep -- were you aware of it? Did you run a mask fit cycle?

Also, do you have the right mask type set in your machine settings? I think on an A10 the machine might use the mask type to calculate how much air is supposed to be escaping vs how much is a leak.

cathy-

I feel like my masks are always leaking. Yes, I ran a mask leak cycle and says that all is well, which I don't understand either.

I think that the mask fit functionality on the A10 is moronic. Besides the whole frowny-face smiley-face thingy (which you can't see without your glasses on anyway) you should see what it takes to get a frowny face! I don't need a machine to tell me that the mask is on wrong when it's on my ear! or elbow! Which is about what it takes!

If the mask feels like it's always leaking, then you haven't made it to step 1 of this process. (Step 1 is getting the mask on right. Steps 2 and up are keeping it on right.) Step 0 is making sure that you have a mask which is the right size and right shape for your face so that it can be on without leaking. You may need to go back to your dme and insist on trying other sizes, and if the other sizes don't fit either, then you need to try different masks.
