Forgot to put water in humidifier

Post by sleepingAgainDsmIA » Wed Jan 14, 2015 7:05 pm

Ok, may sound like a stupid question but super tired last night, went to bed early forgot to put water in my humidifier that adjoins to my Phillips Respironics Series System 1. Ran all night probably on high setting for humidity with no water in the tank.

My question is has anyone else done this in the past? Did it cause issuses? Are there things I need to look out for?

Been there, done that. The smell is a bit unpleasant, but washes out.

The good news, you may have killed the mold in the HH, at least you made it uncomfortable. Jim

The vast majority of the time it is no big deal but rarely we hear a tale or two of it damaging the tank... like I said very rare. BTW tanks are cheap to replace. I've never heard a single case about the humidifier unit or its electronics being damaged. They do design these units to take a beating since they are medical spec'd equipment.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I run my Resmed S9 all the time without water. Like the heat but not the humidity. Tank still looks like new.

No minerals, I presume.

I manage to forget to fill the tank once a month or so. Usually the smell wakes me up.

Mine runs out near morning a good number of times. Its not the same thing I realize but I can smell it when I take my mask off.
