P10 or Nano

Post by fredster » Tue Dec 30, 2014 3:00 pm

Hi everyone,
Im new to using CPAP. I currently use the Swift FX Nasal Pillow. I've been playing with the different sizes for a few weeks, and go between the large and medium. For some reason, I find myself pulling the headgear off about two hours into sleeping, Im really not sure what happens. I have had some good nights of 4 or 5 hours, but those are becoming fewer. I am mostly a side sleeper. Im considering trying out either the Nano or the P10. What seems to bug me the most is the weight on my face and how the movement causes the pillows to supply less air if not at the right angle. Nano or P10? What are your thoughts? If this has already been discussed on the forum, please just share the link. Thanks!

P10 is smaller and lighter-- nasal pillows.
Nano was for me a bit stiff because of the hard inner walls, which hit my face wrong.
Both have minimal headgear, but I could not use the Bella loops (tender ears)
Taking your mask off can be temporary, or you will need to tape or pin it on
to help you develop the new habit of leaving it on.

Thank you for the feedback, Chunky. I didn't even know about the Bella loops, I don't think I could handle that either. I hate the feeling of something pressing above my upper lip but Im getting used to that. So the inner walls of the Nano are hard? Yikes, I thought they were soft.

I use the P10 almost all of the time but I have Nano as well. I use the Nano when I am congested since I can't tolerate full face masks. For me, they are both very comfortable masks.

The hardness is subjective, I feel it is a bit stiff for me, maybe because of where it hits me.
The inner walls are flexible--given compatible anatomy, would be comfortable.

I tried the Nano but it moved too much for me and would wake me. The hose is attached directly to the cushion and even with the swivel hose I found it pulled right on the cushion and would move my mask.
For me the P10 is the winner. It's cushion sits in a light weight frame and you hardly even notice the very flexible hose. Once I put it on I have very little movement.
One thing I did have with the P10 is the headgear just has a slit in the band at the back and you are to adjust by pulling the top half of the band toward the top of your head. I could never get the top band to stay higher but mine works fine with both at the back.

I use the P10 and love it. I tried the Nano and am going to send it back. I had a similar experience to Chunky Frog's, namely that the hard inner wall of the cushion pressed painfully into my upper lip. I also had real trouble with leaks.

If you're looking for a nasal mask, I bought both the Wisp and the Eson based on advice from other forum members and I love both. I like to switch off masks each night since they all rest on different parts of my face.
