Help! - Need to get old data onto new computer
Awhile back, I got a new laptop. I have installed ResScan again, and I would like to put in the old data which has all the detailed graphs. But I can't get it to import the data. I have a folder with saved copies of the SD card. I'm not sure if I can get the old computer to boot up to get a direct save file from the program. I have created a new patient and downloaded the card directly, but it has only the recent detailed data.

Re: Help! - Need to get old data onto new computer
I am not sure at the moment what files Resscan uses.
Generally there are a few ways of getting data from a computer that is a little sick and transfer to the new computer. I would need to know more about what is wrong with the old computer. If the problem is not that the hard drive is dead or a virus has wiped the files, then it should be fairly easy to get the files off of the old computer. pm me if you need some help and let me know if it is a windows machine or a macintosh.
Good luck

The old computer doesn't always turn on, but when it does, it works fine. I will dig it out and see if I can find the right files, but I am not sure what file I would need to transfer to get the saved file from the program. I do have backup copies from the SD card, but each one will only have the detailed data for the past month and full data for the past year. My oldest backup is from May of this year, so my data only goes back to May of 2013. The first year is gone. I just have a paper copy of the summary and a few reports of good and bad days.
The good news is that I was trying to update this because my brother is finally using his cpap machine that has been in the closet for a few years. I wanted to show him some of my start up data, but I showed him some more recent days instead. Not as interesting, but ok. I didn't know what machine he had until I got there. I was very pleased to find an auto machine with full data. Respironics 550. And I downloaded Sleepyhead today and tested it with my card so that I could make sure I could check his data regardless of what brand of machine he had. I'll have to learn a little more about Sleepyhead since the display is different and has a few things I am not familiar with. He's got a lot of leaks which I expected since his mask fit has been a big issue. His ahi is down to about 11, but there are some obvious things to adjust that should bring it down. I made a small change tonight, and we can make a few more changes over the next few weeks. We should have a new mask to try in a few days too.

If you have Windows7 and ResScan:
In Explorer navigate to C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\ResMed\ResScan3\Patients
Right click on it, select Properties > General > Size to figure out how big it is. If you have a memory stick/card big enough to manage those files, copy the folders in Patients to the memory device and place them in the Patient folder in the target computer ResScan.
If you don't have a memory device big enough or are so inclined create a network and Share the folders.
What kind of computer do you have? Mayhaps we can just replace the On-Off switch. If it's a Desktop, they're like about a buck.

Re: Help! - Need to get old data onto new computer
if the old machine will boot and keep running when it does finally boot up. there are free programs such as windows easy transfer which will seamlessly transfer everything to your new windows computer except for computer programs. (all the settings are moved though)
Must have windows xp service pack 2 or better on the new computer and new computer must be windows. search for transfer on the new computer run that and follow the instructions it is easy to do. Once it runs it may take quite a long time.

You can remove the hard drive from you old computer and get a USB hard drive enclosure and then I believe you would have access to all your files. Unless it was the hard drive that failed. They are cheap and it would be worth a try.

Re: Help! - Need to get old data onto new computer
I have a hard drive adapter, so that isn't an issue. The problem is I don't know what files need to be copied. I don't know the name of the file I need or where it is located. I changed computers back in August, so I am not going to suddenly copy the old hard drive completely. I just need to copy the correct files and put them in the correct place.
