Got the whatever is going around bug. Interested to see how adding temp and humidity works with the dry cough.

Does coughing at night show up as a snore in sleepyhead? Sorry about the bug you caught. Even frogs don't like those kind of bugs..

Ok...so this is the flu or whatever where the raspy, dry hacking cough usually makes my throat bleed. Humidity is as high as it can go, heated hose adjusted as high as I can stand. I have BARELY coughed while wearing my mask. Now, as soon as it comes off and I'm sucking down that cool 18% humidity, I want to put the mask back on due to the racking cough. Good thing i got so sick this morning that i havent moved the truck. Maybe i can hide here til its over.

Do you not get a flu vaccine every year?

As I understand, the flue vaccine distributed this year fights the wrong strain and offers little protection.

Good luck and get better soon. Without kids in the house anymore we usually miss these bugs.

Trying to spread ignorance which can harm people?

This year's vaccine:

- Effective against about 50% of the cases of H3N2
- Effective against H1N1
- Effective against the B strains

Tatooed (sic) Lady should go to the doctor TODAY to be checked and get a prescription for Tamiflu (or Relenza) if the flu is confirmed. If you wait too long, Tamiflu is ineffective.

Actually there were 2 versions of the flu vaccine this year. One covered 3 strains of the flu and the other covered 4 strains but is in short supply. I was lucky, being married to a medical practice, I got the fourble version.

I don't believe Sleeprider is spreading ignorance. This years vaccine, while covering some, is not covering the most prevalent strain.

I will happily take those odds. $25 for a flu vaccine at a walk-in clinic is a bargain.

I assume you have little tolerance for the anti-vaccine crowd and I don't either.

Geeze you guys are sensitive...This year's flu vaccine is less effective than hoped for as the prevalent strain mutated. What misinformation is that? FWIW, I got the vaccine, however I don't have high hopes of it being effective. The CDC press release quoted below:
Flu vaccines may not adequately protect recipients from some of this flu season’s most common viral strains, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Regardless of whether you are vaccinated this year, take extra precautions as it could be a very bad flu season with a less effective vaccine.

I don't think anyone posting is "anti-vaccine". I get mine every year and have given hundreds. I know the worth. I was just taking issue with the word "ignorance". SGearhart was right there were 2 versions but many didn't know or were not given the choice.

That is not what you said and it is not what I replied to. It is quite a bit different from what you wrote to start with:
Sleeprider wrote:As I understand, the flue vaccine distributed this year fights the wrong strain and offers little protection.
Sleeprider wrote:I got the vaccine
So you covered yourself and don't care if something you post discourages others from getting the vaccine?

You do realize there is a nutty and persistent anti-vaccine crowd that is spreading ignorance? You might want to make it clear that you are not among them.
