Expensive Machines in Dubai how to get one from USA or UK

My old CPAP Phillips Resporonics Remstar machine has finally died, it was an amazing machine and I had it for over 7 years with no problems.

I am now on the hunt for a new Machine I had a quote from a supplier in Dubai asking for 5000 Dirhams, that's about 500 OMR which is approximately $1,300 USD, for a Respironics System One machine, is this the normal price being asked in Dubai, or can you buy them elsewhere at a more realistic price.

Appreciate any help with this, been without my machine for a month and it is starting to tell on me, with my continued disruptive sleep patterns.

Others will help with finding machine, but til then sleep in a recliner if possible, and never on your back otherwise..

Craigslist worked very well for me. I think that Ebay will not allow sales as machines are classified as medical devices which I guess they feel should have a prescriptions. Do contact me off line and I can tell you the process I went through

Your options expand if you have a prescription in hand.

Also note: some countries have import restrictions on CPAP. (E.g., weirdly, you can't import a CPAP machine into Spain the last time I checked). I did very, emphasize very, brief research and I couldn't find that the UAE has any such restrictions, which means that Second Wind might be willing to ship to you there.

Craigslist is probably your best bet unless you find a private sale here (not beyond the realm of possibility).

You will also want a shipping forwarder if buying from our host cpap.com the manufacturers like resmed and rsperonics don't allow them to ship to a location outside the USA.
Google for them.

Can you purchase such items in the UAE without a prescription or do local laws require a doctor's approval beforehand, like in the U.S.? It may actually be easier and cheaper to do it that way, buying one OTC in Dubai, than to see a doctor and get a prescription and whatnot. Although seeing a trained physician for such things is preferable than not, especially if you have not been re-checked in a long time.

Also, consider a flight to India is pretty cheap from Dubai -- it may be cheaper to fly there, get a machine, and fly back, than spend so much in Dubai. Depends how much they sell for in India, but could be less.
