Home sleep study for other apnea

Post by nogutsnoglory » Wed Dec 24, 2014 6:54 pm

I'm doing a home study for OSA but would it also pick up on central apnea or are they limited to OSA?

Resmed Apnea Link Plus does report Central Apneas on its report. It also reports mixed apneas. I saw it on my home sleep study report done by this device. So I am guessing you can diagnose central apneas with it. I don't think it can diagnose UARS.

The device they use is OK (WatchPAT 200). Don't know if the staff knows what they're doing.

Course, there is that one little drawback of WatchPAT:
It does not differentiate the type of respiratory event (obstructive apnea, mixed apnea, central apnea, or hypopnea)

I think I'm getting watch pat but I guess if there are abnormalities I'll need to go for an overnight.

All I said was that I didn't think it found centrals, but apparently it does in machines I'm not familiar with.
