REputable Internet DME

Post by Jall » Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:18 pm

So I walked out of my doctor's office with a written Rx for a Resmed S9 auto with data card, humidifier etc. following some good advice for such Rx on this website. Now need to purchase the unit. I am going to use medical set aside account verse insurance given my high deductible/copay. My question is, has anyone had a good experience with any of the internet based dme that sell these units. I am more concerned about buying a mask over the internet than the unit itself. Any thoughts appreciated. Jeff

The company that hosts this message board is a good place to start looking, many people including me have purchased for them: https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machines/cpap ... ::::new:30:

there is also ebay and amazon ..
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

Welcome to the board.

Cpap.com and some of the others have "mask insurance." You pay $xx extra and have the right to return the mask if it doesn't fit, etc. Read the details on the policy. If you return it, you're out the $xx for the insurance. I don't remember the details about who pays what shipping, so read the details.

I think cpap.com is as good as or better than the other internet DME's. Do your research and then call them and they can help you with any questions.

Be careful on the healthcare savings account if that's what you have. Insurance companies can be jerks about letting you buy from internet suppliers.

Has anyone done HSA purchase through cpap.com? Any hassles or tricks?

Any thoughts on which mask or mask type you want?

fwiw - you should be able to use your HSA to pay the insurance deductible. You can also buy the machine from one place and get supplies (mask) from another. They may not like it but it can be done.

I have used my HSA (they see it as just a credit card) but they are out of network for almost all insurance - cpap.com is in Houston but BCBS TX do not list them for example.

I have used our hosts to purchase a travel machine plus several masks over the years. I purchase out of pocket and file for reimbursment through my FSA. I have never had an issue with them reimbursing me for either the machine or masks (assuming you still have envough in your FSA balance of course.)

Over the years I've used several online DMEs (mostly for good sales etc) and have not had any bad experiences... I however I almost always prefer to give business to this forum's hosts: CPAP.com. They are nearly always competitive in price while giving top-notch friendly service. IMO, most of the front line national DMEs (often preferred by doctors due to certain 'perks') seem to be getting very difficult to deal with lately. Don't get me started on Apria.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
