HELP!!

Post by Joshaldo » Wed Dec 03, 2014 2:42 pm

Hey guys I have a bit of a problem with my S9 autoset. I am from Australia so have ordered my machine from secondwind because it was cheaper and although I did my sleep study and was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea I did not return to get my prescription so secondwind was great in giving me a machine without a script. Last night I got tangled up in my mask cord and my machine with humidifier tipped over and the water from the humidifier spilt all over the autoset and now the LCD display is just white and it will work some times not others. Any ideas on how to get this working again or how I can get hold of a machine temporarily without a script? I use this thing 8 hours a day and can not sleep with out it .

first, unplug it until it's totally dry inside.
second, try and open it up and check to see if the board has gotten corroded due to the water.

A more descriptive title on a thread would be "helpful".

LED screen may recover when dry. Meanwhile get a hose hanger.

Try putting it in a big tub of rice for at least 48 hrs to help dry it out

I second the advice already given.

This advice applies to almost anything electronic.

If anything electronic gets wet, disconnect it immediately and do not apply power until it is absolutely dry. Water will not hurt most electronics if they are not powered.

If you are comfortable opening the case, do so and place the opened unit in a warm, dry place. Good places include on top of a water heater, on top of a stereo amplifier (no drips!!), near a heat register, near a sunny window, etc. You can use an oven but you must be very careful. Heat the oven to the lowest temperature, turn it off and do not put the electronic inside until the temperature is under 120F. Do not turn the oven on with the electronics inside under any circumstance. Even with warmth, drying could take several days.

If the LCD does not work after a thorough drying, you may try disassembling it and cleaning it if you have nothing to lose. LCDs are often connected to the printed circuit board using conductive elastomers. These look like blocks of rubber between the display and the main board. Water will sometimes wick under these and cause them to malfunction. If you can mash on the side of an LCD and get it to work, it is likely a problem with these elastomers. You will need to remove the elastomers and clean all the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol. I don't know if you unit even has these, and my success rate with this procedure is not great. Only attempt this if the unit is otherwise unusable. You are usually better off returning the unit for service.

Firstly thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. The unit is turning on again but I am now getting an error message that the machine is receiving too much voltage and also the front of it is over heating which is causing an error that it is over heating and must turn off. Any idea on how to resolve these errors? I noticed the machine will heat up at the front as soon as the power is plugged into it, before I even turn it on.
