I have used the hybrid for 3 nights and feel I am having more success with it than my other 2 FF masks. I still feel very aware of the mask, very warm and uncomfortable. I know people say that they look forward to a night with their cpap machines. Is this because you know the health benefits of this treatment (which I entirely believe), or do you really get past the feeling that the mask is always there. It is still such a foreign way to sleep for me that I certainly don't look forward to it. Will this too, pass?

Still feel uncomfortable with any mask
I dread sleeping without my apap (on the few nights I've had to do that). I dread it because I keep waking myself up with a horribly dry throat - several times a night. I don't wake up feeling rested. I wake up with a headache.
When I sleep with my Aura mask, I can hardly tell I'm wearing it before I fall asleep, let alone while I sleep.
It boils down to "breathing" for me.
Hang in there. It does get easier. Finding the right mask for you makes all the difference in the world.

I am absolutley terrified of sleeping without my Apap! I feel so horrible the next day, and it brings back memories of the "bad ole days" before anyone figured out what was wrong with me.
I have a Fischer -Paykel mask that is very light and comfy. And yes, it did take awhile before I could get used to it. But now, I just can't do without it, and I have to feel my face in the middle of the night to make sure it's there.
Please give it time.

It took me about 6 months to get to the point where I really noticed the difference between sleeping w/ the CPAP and w/out the CPAP.....I really dread the occasions without. Getting my Swift to the point where I was fitting it correctly and having to adjust it less to some time..but it's all worth it.
hang in there!

Being new to this I can not believe how many different thing there are to look for. As someone who has been on this for a little more than a month I am a little discouraged that I am not able to sleep through the night with my mask on. Being a newbie you are kind of at the mercy of the Dr. and homecare people as I don't know squat other than being shown how to work the machine and having a pressure ramp up to 15. I find my mask uncomfortable as it is a Untra Mirage II. Any advice or guidance would be great as I am finding out that Dr. and homecare agent don't really understand with what we go through.

It occurs to me that cpap therapy is a little bit like golf. You may have mostly bad shots during a round, but all it takes is hitting one long drive down the middle or making a tricky twenty foot putt, and it's a good round.mbscats wrote:Being new to this I can not believe how many different thing there are to look for. I get on here every so often to rave about my latest success -- the mask that stops leaking, for example -- but the fact is that most nights aren't pleasant and I don't sleep very well. After two months, I'm still clinging to the successes and trying not to get too discouraged about the failures. I think it's getting better and I'm hopeful that it will get better still.
Hang in there.
