Fixed pressure help

I started back on auto cpap awhile back. I think my body might respond better to a fixed pressure....still very tired all the time with good AHI numbers. What numbers would one use to make a close as possible guess based off of sleepyhead pressure data ? minium pressure, med pressure, 95% or max? What would be the best way of "guessing". Many thanks.

It kind of depends on what the pressure range is, what the "average" pressure being reported and the 90% or 95% pressure.

In my own case, using a fairly narrow range (10 - 15 cm.) to "verify" the fixed pressure I'd already been using (12 cm.) for awhile, that fixed pressure ended up being between the "average" and the "90%" (on my Respironics machine). And, that's where my setting has been since the mid to latter part of 2006. I only hit 15 cm. one night and for only one and a half minutes. But, I also found out the changing pressures disturbed my sleep and woke up frequently for the week I used the range of pressures. And, my AHI was worse for many of those nights.

And, that's where I've usually suggested a person start with a fixed pressure......somewhere between the average and the 90 or 95% numbers. From there, the user can then tweak the settings a bit till they find their optimum setting.

I think your numbers look great. Your current pressure settings look good to me. But...IF you think you would do better on a fixed pressure, I would look at the 95% figure which indicates that 95% of the time you were at that pressure or lower.

Just cause I couldn't leave well enough alone...I tried fixed last night.



As far as AHI numbers go....thats the best showing so far.

Maybe that was just a glitch....or maybe on fixed pressure it "shows" better? Or maybe my body is gonna like the fixed pressure better. Can't say I feel any different...but its earily yet lol.

I just feel like I'm still tired and not getting good hard sleep. Never wake up refreshed feeling. Even though numbers seem great.

Any and all suggestions welcome. Just trying to get the most out of my therapy. Thanks,
