Compliance question

Post by Finnc » Sun Nov 09, 2014 1:17 pm

I will be seeing my sleep doctor next week and I am really worried about my compliance. The last couple weeks I have been doing much better about sleeping with the mask on but before I was taking it off in the middle of the night a lot plus two nights I just couldn't wear it because I was waking up with crazy nose bleeds.

What normally happens if your not compliant? This will be a 60 day check in not 90 but I am concerned they may take my machine away.

If you are not compliant the Dr. should set up another appointment before the 90 days . If not there is a way to restart the procedure over again.
It also depends on the insurance CO. the above applies to medicare .
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

General compliance rules Adherence to therapy is defined as use of PAP ≥ 4 hours per night on 70% of nights during
a consecutive thirty (30) day period anytime during the first three (3) months of initial
usage.
If the above criteria are not met, continued coverage of a PAP device and related
accessories will be denied as not medically necessary.

is your doctor aware of the nosebleeds? I would say that if you have been in communication with him/her about problems you've had while trying to start therapy, s/he would be able to help you a) find a mask that makes compliance possible and b) by running interference with the DME/ insurance company, advising them that while you haven't met complete compliance, you ARE still trying to find a solution and still need therapy.

Just my thoughts, though...I could be WAAYYY off base.

Honestly she's not. I have had really bad nose way before Cpap and could kick myself for not telling her about them ( they are in my medical history) but it just been a way of life for 3 years now and I didn't think anything of it until the first nose bleed on cpap.

Oh I will, it just never came up and at that point I was really out of it so didn't even think to bring it up.
