I'd probably be screwed then. My nightly range is more like 3, likewise my 95% ranges.
Bummer. Apap is more comfy for me, and I think it helps keep the gas where it belongs.
I was impressed with the study that found 15 minutes added to nightly use with apap over cpap.
Not much, but it can sure add up.

On a Quebec CPAP blog someone mentioned getting a super deal from an online dealer in Ontario, and great service - but this board won't let me give you the link ;0) It's CPAC clinic dot CA ;0)

It may be worth a call to see what they may be willing/able to do for you.

Every day we hear about the healthcare crisis in this province, about costs blowing up, and creating a horendous pressure on government budgets. And yet, when there are ways to treat people at a lower costs, there are rules and regulations that favour hyperbilling. Granted my private insurance will cover 80% of my bill, so I still come ahead than buying directly in the US, but it really bugs me because I do pay for that coverage after all. Again, rules protecting the medical system and establishment, not the patient, and at the patient's cost.

Good luck!

There is http://www.clinicalsleep.com in BC and http://www.cpapoutlet.ca in Ontario.

I use cpapoutlet.ca all the time for masks and mask parts. They have free shipping for over $100. I just bought a new Resmed P10 nasal pillows mask from them. They are charging $99 for it right now in Canadian dollars. That's the same price as currently on cpap.com but cpap.com prices are US dollars and our dollar is not so good right now. No free shipping for Canadians from cpap.com.

cpapoutlet.ca has machines as well. I have not tried to purchase a machine from them and I don't know if they will accept an old prescription like cpap.com and others in the US do.

Another machine you might look at (from cpap.com) that can still be shipped to Canada, is the Intellipap Auto. I have it as a backup and use it frequently. It is an excellent machine. Unfortunately you need a special snap-on piece (extra cost) to read the data cart and it doesn't give as much information (probably enough) as the "big 2" machines but it does work with Sleepyhead.

I think cpapoutlet has the Intellipap also and, with our dollar the way it is right now, it may be worth checking with them.

You've done your homework and have experience to know what works best for you. Having had therapy less than a year, I am only now coming to the conclusion that fixed pressure CPAP appears to be what I need. Changes in pressure from APAP wake me out of REM sleep.

Cheers!

P.S. The only reason I'm leaving the message below is so that new Ontario hosers who find this thread don't automatically get caught up in the CPAP vs. APAP debate. I know you are not doing this at all. When it comes to CPAP vs. APAP your mileage may vary.

American insurance works differently than in Ontario. American equipment suppliers may try to shortchange their insured customers by not providing an APAP machine which uses the same billing code as a lower cost CPAP machine. The situation in Ontario is different. The $215 ADP funded CPAP package is a great value and nothing more expensive may be needed. Don't panic! You are not being shortchanged!

my prescription was always at a pressure of 10 (original hasn't changed) but when the 5 years were up i got an auto machine. Since using the auto i realized i needed a higher pressure but i still like it fixed. i3 is ideal for me.

rules are probably different in BC
