Bed Pillows

Post by lytepole » Sun Oct 26, 2014 9:47 pm

I'm on a quest for a new bed pillow. I know there have been several discussions about buckwheat pillows lately, but would love to hear what bed pillows people are using, whether they are side or back sleepers, and whether or not they have special issues that their pillow helps address.

As for me, I have been sleeping on a wedge pillow for years, with a very very thin pillow under the small of my back, and another very thin feather pillow for under my neck. "Normal" pillows typically feel too thick for my neck. I've never met a memory foam pillow that didn't feel too thick for my neck - whether side or back sleeping. I spend about 75% of my night on my back, and the rest on my right side.

With the addition of a CPAP mask, I'm exploring new pillow options. I've been having more neck pain on and off since starting CPAP and have been playing around with different solutions - trying different masks, different chin straps, etc. I'm on to trying new pillows now. LOL

Thanks!

I'm using the buckwheat pillow and I love it. You can fill it to fit your needs. I have a short neck, so a thick pillow doesn't work so well for me either. I've had the issue before with pain and found it was actually the lower strap on the headgear was too tight.

Side sleeper. Sleeping on my back quadruples my events and makes me feel lousy the next day.

Sleep on 2 queen pillows (one slightly overlaps the other) with contour memory foam pillow atop them. I have a very narrow roll pillow that I put under the contour pillow if I need it to stabilize my head or prevent mask from sliding. I sleep with a thin pillow between my knees.

Side sleeper, temperpedic pillows. I haven't tried anything else since being on cpap.
