F&P Icon Auto and Importing data into Sleepyhead

Post by petermills » Sat Oct 04, 2014 4:36 am

Hi Everyone,

I've just been diagnosed a few days ago and have been using the Fisher & Paykel Icon+ Auto CPAP.

I have been reading through this great forum and have read about SleepyHead. I would like to import data from the InfoUSB 2 smartstick on to my Mac which is running Mavericks.

I have downloaded SleepyHead "v0.9.8-1 testing" and set up the profile. When I select File Import the software automatically finds the smartstick and says "A FPIcon file structure was located at: /Volumes/FPHCARE Would you like to import from this location? I say Yes but then I get the error: Import Problem - Couldn't find any valid Machine Data at /Volumes/FPHCARE

I have also tried to manually specify the location using both the root of the USB and also inside the specific folder where I can see the data files. The data files in the folder labelled "23448761" have a file extension of FPH

There is data appearing on the Icon AUTO for the last 3 days and I can see the files on the USB with yesterday's date and time stamp.

Can someone please help me get SleepyHead reading the data ?

P.S. I have also tried to use Fisher & Paykel's "InfoSmart" software which I downloaded but it would not install on either Windows 7 or Windows 8. This download was from back in 2012..

Thank you for your assistance.

Peter

Hi,

Further to the below. I was able to set up Windows XP within VirtualBox and install InfoSmart.

It appears that you can set up the prescription e.g. what settings the Icon Auto should use and then push it back to the machine via the USB.

I am required to send the data from the USB back to the sleep specialist in a months time and I do not want to screw anything up on the USB or the machine.

Does anyone know how I can set up InfoSmart to just read the data off the USB to create a report without modifying any settings on the Icon Auto ?

Thank you
Pete

I can't help with the SleepyHead and Mac issues...I suggest you add "Mac version" to your subject line to get the attention of Mac users.

InfoSmart...if your version is from 2012 I am not so sure it would even work with the Plus Icon. I am going to send you a private message that contains the newest InfoSmart version that I know works with the Plus version...it was just released this year.

Will the software work without inputting the pressure? Remember this software is designed for DMEs and doctors and not really for us. My Encore software also has a place for pressures but it isn't required to get the reports.
I am not familiar with actually using InfoSmart since I don't have a F & P machine...so I can't test it out. It's royal pain in the butt to use from what I have heard from people.

As long as you don't change any of the settings in the machine or in the software I can't see it messing up your reports that you need to send in a month. If it won't let you get reports without inputting the pressure....just put in the settings that are currently on the machine.

Sending you a PM in just a bit.

Hi Pugsy,

Thanks for your private message and your reply here. I was able to get SleepyHead working on my PC running Windows 8 last night.

I will see if this is sufficient to tell me how I'm going rather than using the InfoSmart software. I don't want to risk messing anything up on the Icon Plus at this early stage.

Thanks again!
Pete

Good...glad you got SleepyHead issues sorted out. No need to even mess with InfoSmart now.
Oh, BTW large leak territory for the F & P Icon is around 60 L/min so you shouldn't see any large leak times unless you go past 60 L/min.

Hi Pugsy,

In regards to the Leak times can you please tell me if the below are acceptable ? I'm currently using a medium size AirFit F10 but have asked my specialist to send me a small size as the mask seems too big.

Day 1:
Leak Rate ( max ) = 4.0
Total Leaks ( max ) = 49.00

Day 2:
Leak Rate ( max ) = 6.0
Total Leaks ( max ) = 54.00

Day 3:
Leak Rate ( max ) = 4.0
Total Leaks ( max ) = 53.00

Day 4:
Leak Rate ( max ) = 6.00
Total Leaks ( max ) = 60.00

If it's leaking too much is the AHI value still accurate? On the 4th day ( last night ) I had the lowest AHI out of the 4 days which was only 6.00 vs, 25.62 for the first night, 8.11 for the second and 7.90 for the third.

Thank you!
Peter

If your maximum leak is showing 60 L/min that's at the upper limits of acceptable leak.
Most likely you didn't spend much time up there based on the other leak averages.
Big leaks can impact the reports when the leak is so big it maybe misses apnea events but you would need to have a higher leak than the max of 60 L/min and have it rather prolonged for it to maybe give you a false low AHI.
Leaks aren't a problem for you based on these numbers. Now if it is uncomfortable or leaks wake you up then of course you want to fix the issue because it's impact the quality of your sleep.

peter, were you able to ever get it working on your Mac? I also have an F&P Icon that I have years of data on and I'd love to be able to get it off.

Any of the Sleepyhead developers, I'd be happy to share my data with you if you want for testing. It's about 30MB.
