Hi everyone, I am new here and have been using my CPAP for just one day. After several years of health issues, forgetfulness, being diagnosed with everything from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome to Fibromyalgia, I finally asked for a sleep study and it was determined that I have sleep apnea. The last several years have been horrible, with my performance at work suffering terribly, having no short term memory, and being susceptible to any virus I came in contact with. On the home front, our house is very dirty as I have not had the energy or willingness to work on it.
My question is, when will I start feeling like my old self again? Will it happen instantaneously (in a couple of days), a few weeks, a month or ??? The most frustrating part for me has been my lack of memory, like attending a meeting at work and taking notes, but then only a few hours later not understanding what my notes are talking about. There are other examples but they all made me feel like I was losing my mind. And my family is mad at me because I never have the energy to do anything. How long does it take to start feeling energetic again?
Last but not least, I have gained about 20 lbs. in the last three years. I am not sure if it is because of the lack of energy and not exercising as much, or if sleep apnea messes up your metabolism in general, but I have actually been on a low calorie diet since July, one that I should have at the very least lost between 10 and 30 lbs by now, and have lost nothing. Have any of you experienced weight issues because of your sleep apnea and/or started to lose weight once you were on a CPAP?
Thanks everyone, and I appreciate any input you can provide

With absolutely no information to go on, it's impossible to say.GeorgiaRotini wrote:Hi everyone, I am new here and have been using my CPAP for just one day. Please register on the forum and put all of your equipment and settings in your profile. We still won't be able to answer all of your questions, but we'll have a better idea of what you're dealing with.
Some people see results pretty quickly and for some it can take months and months.
The keys are education and determination.

Hi, are you comfortable with your mask? Don't think it leaks (or that you do)? Getting enough sleep hours? It's really important that we know what equipment you have (the full name & model # of machine, plus type of mask and hopefully (if you know them) your pressure settings. Are you using software to see how you're doing?
