Still feeling tired
Still feeling tired
I've been on My Resmed for six months now with religious compliance. I sleep better not waking as much, but still wake up tired and become more tired as day goes on. AHI is usually around 1.0-2.0, Leakage is averaging 14, pressure is 8-18. Have to admit I don't wake up with HA's or Blood shot eyes anymore. please advise.

Wait longer. It takes longer for some folks to feel better. Keep in mind you are increasing your life span by decreasing the times you stop breathing at night.

Have you checked with your PCP about running other tests to investigate what is going on>utrocks84 wrote:I've been on My Resmed for six months now with religious compliance. Re: Still feeling tired
How many hours of sleep are you averaging?
Are those hours of sleep fragmented with many wake ups? If so, how many and do you go right back to sleep? If so, any idea why?
Do you take meds of any kind, even OTC? If so, what are they?
You are using APAP mode with auto adjusting pressures? Some people find that the changing pressures disturb their sleep quality and do better (feel better and more rested) with either a very narrow range of pressures or maybe fixed cpap mode.
There's so much more to getting good restorative sleep than just AHI numbers. I wish it were that easy.
There are many causes for fatigue besides OSA. If you have other issues going on that are unrelated to OSA then the machine and the best therapy in the world (on paper) can't fix the things that are unrelated to OSA.

Re: Still feeling tired
I'm 7 months into cpap and still feel tired for much of the day, but it took about a month for me to start sleeping better. I still usually get up once in the night for a trip to the loo, but I've also had nights of sleeping through without a break. My AHI has been <5 every night since April 12, and most nights it is <3.
My take on this is: OK, so I'm still tired, but my health is improved with good therapy. I get to sleep more quickly and I'm functioning well during the day. I am not as tired as I used to be. Hopefully that will continue, but if not I'll still be OK.

Re: Still feeling tired
I'm going to suggest that the changing pressures are keeping you from getting restorative sleep. When you enter deep or REM sleep stages your breathing changes. This could cause the machine to interpret it as needing to increase pressure. When that happens, you're bumped out of that needed sleep stage into a lighter one......leaving you feeling unrested.utrocks84 wrote:I've been on My Resmed for six months now with religious compliance. If you have software to monitor your therapy, it should be pretty easy to look at the reports and see what's happening.
If you want to start getting some good sleep, switch to a fixed pressure (CPAP mode).
