I do as Wulfman, passover only 99.99% of the time, I like it cold, my Cave only goes down to 70 degrees in the summer, no windows in the cave to put a A?C in. I like it 65 Degrees, in the winter that's the normal in the cave.

Heated Humidifier - Do you use it in the summer?
I use both the heated humidifier and heated hose year round. I keep my bedroom door closed with the window air conditioner on in the summer and the door closed and window open a little in the winter. Comfy cozy year round.

I tried CPAP years ago and stopped using it because I’d get so cold at night. That was before the humidifiers. I just went back on CPAP 6 months ago. The first night I accidentally shut of the machine and forgot to turn on the humidifier again after I restarted it. That night I had the same symptoms and got bone chilling cold. I thought I wouldn’t be able to use CPAP...
I did find out my mistake and for the next month or so, the humidifier seemed to do the trick and I didn’t get cold any more. Suddenly, I’d start waking up gasping for breath, no less. I found that just running passover seemed to do the trick Later, I stopped using the humidifier and found I did better but I was getting some blood when I blew my nose in the morning. That lasted for a week or so then went away. I have currently done about two months with out the humidifier and I’m doing well.
So, what happened? Don’t know. I did keep the house humidified this past winter. I bought two hot mist humidifiers and a gauge to track the humidity. I maintained 40% or better all year through out the house. I found that the humidity was below 20% on days (away) when the humidifiers weren’t running. I was shocked to see how much water they would go through each day, up to 8 gallons total.
So, apparently using the humidifiers eliminated the need for the CPAP humidifier I guess. I’d highly recommend you check into humidity and health, from what I found we need about 40% for best health and comfort. That’s not just while we are sleeping, but during the day as well. My wife and I are doing much better health wise since I started this. It is a pain, another chore, but after several weeks it becomes routine and mostly unnoticed. Please check into this.
BTW, I’ve been a lurker for a while now and this is my first post on this board. Big howdy to you all! I’m a 56 year old male living in Boston, MA. I had a major heart attack in ’94 and lost about 25% of my heart. Ran into more problems last August and went HIGH TECH with a pacemaker/defibrillator and my job retired me on disability.
Sorry for the long post, but I’m a yackker with a keyboard. Good sleep!

Welcome ztsd,
If you have been a lurker for awhile, then you probably already know about the Aussie Heated Hose. Many of us have purchased one. It has small heating coils in it and it heats the air before it comes into your mask. It really feels good on cold winter nights - and works with a heated humidifier.
Try one if you ever have any problems.

I use mine on 1 during the summer otherwise it's too hot.
. In pass thru mode I wake up choking from a dry throat.
During the winter it's Heated Hose and HH on 3 or 4.
Best to your comfort,
Tom
