I sold a couple of very small items to members, and they sent me their personal check afterward.
To sell anything larger, I would have to set up a PP account.

If you go back and look at jargon113's posts you will see that a machine was offered for sale and nfrederick86 bought it.(or at least said he bought it).

You sure do "need help"....almost all of your posts are critical of something or someone...nothing to offer. I'll be waiting for your come back.

CPAPtalk.com serves its purpose as a place for discussing CPAP and sleep apnea. It shouldn't be responsible for a private sales transaction dispute. While unfortunate, the seller took a huge risk with trying to sell an item via an online support forum. It's difficult to find any recourse if there's no paper trail or intermediary like PayPal or eBay to settle the dispute or fraud claim.

OK I do know that -

I have learned a lesson
DO NOT expect cpaptalk to re-imburse me, or deal with the transaction at hand
Only here to warn you others, of this user.

We agreed to do half at first, and half after a week if he liked it. here is the PM trail, and the email trail between us-

Remember I only posted to help you guys not deal with him..

this is completely backwards (start at bottom) from the last email I sent him to the first PM I got.

Never happened, he wont reply to me now.. I just send him an invoice everyday. I have added $100 for late fees for each month (2 months) just for shits and giggles I guess.

Also, if you do want to return it I will give you your 125 back upon it being received back so no worries there either.

I understand how you feel, and do not blame you. I will accept half now, and half when you are satisfied, and do not want to return it. So when you pay for the other half it's yours and I don't have to worry about a return. Whenever I get 125, I will ship it and send you the tracking number. If you pay soon I will not be able to ship it out until tonight when I get home.

I 'm a little weary, as you probably are, of buying something from someone who has only been a member here for a short time, hell, I just joined yesterday. Would you be willing to accept half payment and ship me the unit, and when I verify everything is in working order I can pay you the other half apon arrival? Let me know what would be best, I think it's a fair price and a good machine for what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Yeah, I would be willing to sell it for $250. I saw your post about the data, just so you know the encoreanywhere has to be paid monthly for the wireless service. I don't know much about it, but I do know that. It also has a SD card slot though. How do you want to proceed? I think Paypal would be the easiest/ most secure. My email is XX phune number is XX if you want to speak. As stated in my post you can return it for a full refund for a week after it is delivered.

Would you be willing to take 250 for the machine? This is exactly what I need, a base model data capable machine.

When a transaction is done in good faith by the Seller or buyer there should be a commitment to finalize the deal.
AlI we have in life is our word.

The seller is out $125. I would not call that a "huge risk".
I was referring to the huge risk of conducting a sales transaction through a website that isn't specified as a marketplace for CPAP equipment. jargon113 assumed that nfredrick86 would be an honest and decent person who'd honor the agreement of paying the rest of the balance. Now jargon113 is out $125, which may or may not be a lot of money depending on your personal financial situation, but it's still a monetary loss that could've gone towards the purchase of CPAP accessories, groceries, or anything else.

Maybe the machine did not work well and the buyer had a cluster of long apneas and died of a stroke.

And his heirs' lawyers are preparing a massive lawsuit against the seller.

Can we stop blaming the victim here? Nate Frederick was a jerk. I'm glad jargon warned us. At no point did I read that jargon expected CPAPTALK to do anything.

Jargon113,

I hear your message loud and clear and really appreciate the heads-up. Personally, I feel you are doing the forum members a favor by giving them proper warning AND keeping meticulous notes that back-up your warning.

No comment on the unneeded ramblings of a few when you are trying to aid other members by saving them time, money, and frustration.

I will cross this individual off my list for any possible future business dealings.

Thanks a bunch,
TheWino

What meticulous notes are you talking about? All he did was paste and post the email trail his computer (or cloud drive) saves for him.

This is a strange thread. The buyer joined the forum 3 days after the seller posted the machine. If the money mattered so much to the seller, he should have demanded cash up front. For the life of me, I don't see why he chose to do a 50/50 deal with a newbie to the forum.

Personally I would never deal with anyone on a forum (unless they are a well established persona and / or there is a feedback thread on the forum which rates people post sales) without a 3rd party like Paypal in between.

Anonymity + distance + cash = people being dicks to each other.
