how can I tell if my bispap auto sv is set correctly?
how can I tell if my bispap auto sv is set correctly?
Hello. I have Central Sleep Apnea so I am aware of my " short circuit" that causes me to stop breathing. My Doctor prescribed that I have a Bipap auto sv advanced system one with the pressure settings of 11/15/25 CMH20 with a c-flex of 3. My problem is my RT. He did not seem too knowledgeable about my condition. Can anyone out there explain to me how I can tell if my prescription has been set correctly on one of these respironics bipap auto sv advanced system ones machines with my prescription?
Re: how can I tell if my bispap auto sv is set correctly?
Do you have a copy of the prescription? That's the best way to see if its set correctly.
Here are my settings and you can see there are others beyond the three you post.
Settings
Min EPAP: 10.0
Min Pressure Support: 7.5
Max EPAP: 15.0
Max Pressure Support: 13.0
Max Pressure: 25.0
Flex Setting: 1
Backup Rate: Auto
Humidification Mode: Heated Tube
Tube Temperature: 3
Humidity Level: 3
I assume that the 11 is the Min EPAP
That the 25 is the Max pressure
But the 15 is unclear as to what it refers to.
Its possible the your doctor is used to prescribing for ResMed machines since having three values is what ResMed prescribers sometimes do. Mine is used to prescribing ResMed. My initial values were: EPAP 9, Max PS 15, Min PS 5.
If that is the case some little fiddling will be necessary to figure out what the remain values should be for a Respironics ASV machine.

Re: how can I tell if my bispap auto sv is set correctly?
One quick n easy way is to look at the display while you breath with the machine ON and the mask on your facw. What numbers do you see in the display?
You won't see all the extra settings but your inhale and exhale pressures should be there.

Re: how can I tell if my bispap auto sv is set correctly?
On the screen, if you click on "Info," there is a menu choice for "Device Settings," on this machine. That will tell you how the machine has been set up, at least with respect to the most basic settings.
