Mask - help me decide please

Post by sleepyintucson » Mon Jul 17, 2006 3:16 am

I keep reading all these homemade fixes for some masks. I'm not McGeiver(?) so I really just want something that's going to just work (is that so wrong?).

Based on everything I've read so far, I'm considering the ComfortLite2, Aura Swift and Breeze. My last mask was a profile lite gelmask. The ComfortLite2 at first seemed to be the first choice then I read all these fixes that have to be done.

I tend to sleep on my side/stomach with my face into the pillow (which actually kept my last mask from leaking).

Help! I need to get back on my CPAP!

Joel

Can't tell you about any of the others, but the Swift which is what I have... isn't great for side sleeping, without sleeping on the edge of the pillow. It tends to dislodge the nasal pillows.

LOL! Nope, not wrong at all to just want something that will work out of the box without having to do anything other than adjust the straps to fit you.

There are a lot of people using all those masks who don't have to do any fixes at all. It's just nice to know that IF you have a problem with any mask, you can usually find a fix for it on the message board. The simplest fix of all (and one of the most effective) for ANY mask that leaks is to just put a homemade strap over the front of it...tie it behind your head. Like a sweatband worn down lower, over the nose. Don't have to be a McGeiver to add that around any mask.

The #1 best mask, imho, for allowing sleeping in ANY position including on the stomach is Aeiomed's "Headrest" mask (also called the "Aura".) I'd rate the Respironics ComfortLite 2 a very close second for sleeping in any position including tummy.

Bite the bullet, Joe...get either the Aura (Aeiomed's "Headrest") or the ComfortLite 2. I'm betting that either of those will suit ya fine -- and very likely with no need to add a fix at all. But, hey, I've left lotsa' quarters in slot machines before. Quarters that could have been better spent on more pantyhose!

Have I mentioned the fact that my wife wears the NasalAire II and she never has a complaint. She sleeps on the stomach and side and says it is very comfortable. We noticed on the nasalaire.com website that you get all six pillow/prongs with it now.
