Face mask and cheap supplies

Post by aav amphibs » Sun Sep 07, 2014 6:50 am

I use a mask that covers my nose and mouth. No problem. I was wondering, if anyone uses FULL FACE MASK? Also, was kind of thinking about buying some future supplies, like hoses, masks....ect.....anyone have CHEAP alternatives? Any place outside the U.S. cheaper? I travel for free so going there and picking up supplies I could do if needed. Would like to find a pack of mask or stuff in bulk but needs to be cheap.

I use a full face mask... I have Quattro Air and AirFit F10... I don't know of a cheap place to get supplies or a pack of supplies... cpap.com, the host of this forum, does have good sales from time to time.

If insurance is no issue let Google and ebay find exactly what you want. Probably going to be cheapest in the US from my research.

If you use insurance, then whole different ball game. In network, deductibles etc.

You're confusing terms - lots of us use a "full face mask" but that's just like a nasal mask that's extended to cover your mouth as well. What I think you're asking is 'does anyone use a 'Total Face Mask" that covers your whole face (or close to it)... and yes, but very few do as they are leaky a lot... and you can look at one on Cpap.com under Masks, then 'Total".

Hi aav -I tried a FF mask the first two days on CPAP, and am now using nasal pillow masks for comfort. I will keep the FF mask as an alternative should I need it (I think it's a Quattro Mirage.)

I am not using insurance to purchase my cpap supplies, so like you, look for lower costs for items I will have to replace in the future. As England said, use Google search and you will find a lot of options. I have found Ebay and Amazon to be the best so far for replacement items of hoses, filters, and mask parts. As far as masks, you can keep an eye out on Craigslist and this forum for those giving away or selling masks at reduced prices.

I would suggest trying to find two or three FF masks that you are comfortable using, so you can alternate when needed. For example, I like the Swift FX and Nuance masks, so look for replacement parts at good prices for those to stock up on.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. I'll do that. I do have insurance that covers supplies, but not aware of all the details yet.
