my machine is here!

Post by pranayama » Tue Sep 02, 2014 9:40 pm

Hello all
After 2 voice mails from Apria stating I would have to give them a credit card, I phoned my insurance company and talked to them. UCLA HealthNet HMO confirmed my insurance pays 100% of cost. My choices were to a) use Apria or b) pay out of pocket. I arrived at my Apria class ready to refuse them my credit card. The teacher said they didn't have my machine (?) but I could follow class with a different machine. My machine would be shipped. At the end of class I was given a 7-page contract. The teacher didn't seem to think I would read it, but I did. (No one else in class read it, just signed). Since the contract only applied to my mask, I felt pretty safe signing it. The costs listed at top were zero's. I was not asked for my credit card.
To my surprise (based on low opinion of Apria), my machine arrived today. I'm off to buy distilled water!

Apria forgot to pack my AC cord. Bummer! I was psyched to try it out tonight.

You knew there would have to be something...

Welcome to the forum. Since the unit was unpacked at some point, the first thing I would do is go into the clinicians menu and see if there are any hours on the machine. It would not be the first time a DME would sell a used machine as new.

They will charge you $2000 for that cord if they have your credit card number.

Ditto...somebody had that box open and with it open they could have put any used machine in that box.
Check the machine hours and not just therapy hours and check the SD card also.

If you're missing the brick, there is a "hidden" trap door in the bag.

machine hours / first night

Post by pranayama » Thu Sep 04, 2014 9:40 pm

Update. Apria same day-shipped my AC cord. It was wrapped with a power pack. (If the power pack and AC cord sit together in the same bin in warehouse, I wonder how I got one without the other the first time. Yes, I now have 2 power packs. Even though I told Apria I only needed AC cord. It took a while to convince them.)

How do I do that? Where is clinicians menu? What's SD card?
I think I'm ready for my first night of CPAP. Any words of wisdom?

Go here and request the provider manual for your machine. Instructions down towards the bottom of the page.

For a brief instruction on how to get to the clinical menu with pictures and there's a video down near the bottom of the page

All your questions are answered in the clinical manual.

I got my manual--yahoo email worked fine.
Problem 2: the machines are "back-ordered", or so they say. -another week.
My DME hints that the supplier may be trying to push old merchandise.
I assured him I would wait for my Airsense 10 Autoset For Her
