wisp nasal mask help

Post by Isabel » Tue Aug 26, 2014 5:30 am

I am having trouble getting the mask in a comfortable position. I am not sure if it is the mask or my skin is to sensivtive. I get the mask on and it seems ok for a little while but then the bottom underand around my nose feels like the edges of the soft silicone are cutting into my skin. I noticed that their is an inner piece as well. Any suggestions

Are you using the Wisp with the silicone frame?
Even though it was my preference, some prefer the cloth frame.
Pad-a-Cheek makes a strap cover that might help you.

You could try the concept with some scrap/remnant fleece.

I am using the cloth frame. It is the mask itself.

Pad-a-Cheek also makes a mask liner for the Wisp.
A home-made liner may be cut out of soft t-shirt fabric.
I would also wonder if you are following the "hovercraft" adjustment principle.
If the headgear is too tight, the discomfort you feel is inevitable.
Sometimes the RPSGT-person just cranks it down during the sleep study,
and nobody tells you that in real life the mask rides loosey-goosey while the
air pressure turns the silicone into a gentle cushion that "kisses" your face.
I liked the silicone frame best because it stuck to my cheeks and allowed the cushion
to stand out from my face, permitting the hovercraft thing to happen.
