I am finally getting to meet with my neurologist about my EEG and sleep study (non-titration)! I'm excited but nervous because the office manager that I talked to said they were not ordering a titration study and I could go ahead and schedule the appointment.
Now, maybe they are rushing to get me in because I called at least 1 time a day since last Wednesday (almost a week after my sleep study) since that was when the office manager said the doctor should be done analyzing my sleep study results. I had to leave messages (in which I asked if I'd need a titration study, ordering certain blood tests and so on), because every time I called, I got the answering machine saying the office was closed (that's what it always says when they go to lunch or on the days they are closed). At first I thought it was because they were at lunch or whatever, but by Friday I was starting to wonder. Finally I decided to call the sleep lab and see if they had heard from the doctor about a titration study. I got a hold of someone there and he said he'd just talked to my doctor that morning, she was out of town and that she'd have the analysis done by Monday (today). So I felt a bit better knowing I wasn't being totally ignored, but I WILL be suggesting they leave a message to that effect if the doctor is out of town again!
So now I'm all worried about the fact that they aren't ordering a titration study and that means I don't have a sleep disorder. Many of you responded before that it may not mean anything, but that was before I definitely knew I wasn't going for a titration study. : (
I did mention in one of my messages that I left that school was starting the next week (which is now here) and I really needed to know if I was going to have a titration as I could only do it on a weekend after that point, so maybe they are going to let me do a home titration?
Sigh. I hope the next 3 days will pass quickly - having the kids in class and getting things going will hopefully help move things along.
Trying to stay positive,
Firefly
Meeting with Neurologist on Thursday!
Re: Meeting with Neurologist on Thursday!
if your sleep study result wasn't too severe,
and you didn't have any or many centrals (a few during sleep->awake transitions don't mean much at all),
and you didn't have any severe desaturations.
Then it could easily be that the plan is a home titration study with an auto cpap to see if they can find a suitable pressure that will resolve your apnea issues. Letting an auto machine run for 30 days can give you a better idea of the correct pressure than a few hours in a very strange environment. Some HMOs do it that way - no titration studies for "normal" obstructive sleep apnea.
Not something to worry about.
But ... get your own copy of the sleep study!!!
Cheers.

Re: Meeting with Neurologist on Thursday!
Agreed to get your own copy to review. Its also possible the sleep study helped identify a sleep disorder other than apnea. At the very least, even if nothing was diagnosed on the sleep study, that rules out many things as causing any symptoms you may have, so you could look elsewhere. I hope your appointment is helpful today. I know how frustrating the lack of info and wait is. Best wishes.
