Sure, if you block the two exhaust holes, the air bends the flapper valve and goes up the hose. But that is the risk people take who sleep with their hand over their mask vents. I suspect there are few who do that.archangle wrote:

Nothing blocks the airflow back up the hose? That's what the flapper valve does. In either case, it is my opinion the original poster need not worry about contaminating herself from the hose. If we could reinfect ourselves, we would never get well.
