I looked at the referenced article. Interesting data from the latest study.
It may very well apply to long term apnea patients.
The bottom line is "Check with your doctor before starting aspirin therapy"

For over ten years I've been consuming one to three tablets a day of "mini-dose" (81 mg.) enteric coated Bayer® aspirin based upon many studies. No problems. No side effects. No easy bleeding. No occult bleeding. Have been convinced that for me the benefit outweighs the risks. "Check with your doctor" if he/she is knowledgeable on this topic.

Chris Kresser recently addressed this and gave some alternatives if you'd like to try something besides aspirin: http://chriskresser.com/4-natural-alter ... to-aspirin

Of course, you should check with your doctor first (who may be less than enthusiastic about alternatives). Make a wise and informed decision for yourself and watch carefully for adverse effects whether you choose to take aspirin or not.

In the past my doctor has said I didn't need it (aspirin). But my cholesterol ratios and levels have gradually been trending upwards and at my last physical he had me start taking a cholesterol lowering drug (a statin) and a baby aspirin each day. He showed me an app on his laptop that is based on a John Hopkins study that showed a close correlation between the app recommendations and the percentage reduction in strokes and heart attacks predicted. With the combination of the two drugs my chance of having a heart attack in the next five years is down 5 percent - to the level of a man my age with no risk factors.
