Still crazy after all these years.
Still crazy after all these years.
Hi All,
So here I am again 5 1/2 years after being diagnosed with an AHI of 75 and having every symptom imaginable. Folks on this forum were my teachers, my support group, my friends, my saviors. Got to the point where I could fly on my own though. So, 5 years later, one daughter married with 7 month old boy, second graduated college, third learning to drive. Wife has had two bouts with breast cancer (doing fine now), my first major bout with depression (doing fine now), and a new S9 autoset cpap machine.
Just wanted to say hi to anyone that might remember me and to say to you new folks, it gets better. When I started on cpap, I was incredibly miserable at night. These days, strap on the mask, earplugs in my ears, pillow over my head, and I'm out like a light. Its amazing what you get used to.
Cheers, Eric.

Re: Still crazy after all these years.
Glad you posted. Good to hear from folk who were on the forum when I began -- and many of them no longer post. I guess when we first begin on the forum (and cpap therapy) so much is new and we know so little that we hold people on this forum in awe. At least I did. It is interesting how we develop such a warm spot for people we don't know, have never met and yet feel such a closeness.
Glad things are going well for you.

Always good to see someone we haven't heard from in a while drop in. Lots of new names here but plenty of us oldtimers still around. I'm sure it does the newcomers' hearts good to read when people have actually had successful therapy and been away from the forum because they were busy leading a productive life.

Oh hell, I almost completely put the udder cream incident behind me. Still riding the bike I assume?
Forgot to mention, the Quattro Air for me was hopeless - never saw such leak profiles like I was getting with that thing.

Re: Still crazy after all these years.
I am fairly new to the forum so I did not 'know' you back then but thanks for the update. I am an RT that sets pts up on cpap's all day and I like to encourage them with other success stories especially when they are going through a hard time getting used to it. Thanks for the update-one more success story to use!

Re: Still crazy after all these years.
I remember you too.
I would have let go of this board long ago but I ended up caregiving for my parents and this board allows me to believe there is life out there beyond the door that doesn't consist of grocery store, pharmacies and doctors offices. Even if this board is still a health focus board, it is about getting in control of life and getting better rather then the long slow slide down the hill into the grave.
